Music
Where would I even begin? If only I could upload all the artists on my IPOD to this box here, you'd see how difficult it is to just name the artists I enjoy. One of these days I'll get to it. Just know it goes from Old Standards, Rock, Classic Rock, Live Bands, R&B, Hip Hop, Rap, Country, Classical, New Age, Oldies, Disney...oh so much more. I love to find out about new artists too! So feel free to suggest any and all!
Movies
Good lawd, ask me about a movie and I've probably seen it or it is on my list of to-be-seens'. I love going to the movies...with the kids, my hubby, friends or by myself. I'm all for a good psychological thriller, comedy, drama, oldie, kids flick, you name it. I can't begin to list the faves because there are so many depending on the genre. I'll post a few of my faves but by no means are limited to them.
So ask away...or tell me one I should see.
Television
I've given up on Lost...I'm officially Lost with it. I don't find it interesting. I've left the island.
I'm not a big TV addict anymore. Though I really used to be. Though I do have a can't miss show...HEROES! OMG I know I'm a freak but I'm a conspiracy theorist at heart and love elaborate schemes like this story has. And I can't forget to give props to Jon Stewart
oh and...
and a huge fan of Rescue Me on FX...it drives me nuts that I have to wait for it to come back on!
Books
I'm a book fiend! If the topic appeals to me I won't be able to put the book down. I have tons of authors I like and stories I love.
Authors like Paulo Coelho, Terry Goodkind, Jack Whyte, Marion Zimmer Bradley, Clive Barker, Elizabeth Lesser, Jon Kabat-Zin, Mona Lisa Shultz, Anne Rice, Linda Lael Miller, Diana Gabaldon, Shel Silverstein, Roger Jahnke, Sari Solden, Shirley Maclaine, Mary Stewart, Sue Monk Kidd, Rumi, Sarah Ban Breathnach, EB White, JK Rowling, Caroline Myss, John Rosemond and so many more.
Heroes
It is always difficult to list this group. I have people I love and admire. I have two heroes though. My husband, which is obvious. He is my knight in sexy amour! (typo meant)
My second is my mother. She raised me on her own and managed to have an impressive career in the process. Both have given more to me than I can ever hope to return!
About me: I'm a day dreamer. More I'm a woman with a highly over active imagination. I love to put those imaginings, or daydreams if you will, to words. I'm not bad...I just write that way.
I am very active (some say this is an understatement) but I do enjoy living in each and every moment. Truth here is that I have Attention Deficit Disorder (with hyperactivity) and those of us that have it know that now is all that matters to us. Later just is well sort of like Scarlett O'Hara said, "I'll worry about that tomorrow." She meant that if it isn't happening today, it isn't important to what is at hand.
You'll find I use lyrics often in my writings. At any given moment, music is often accented in my life in some way. All great moments have spectacularly worded rhythmical songs highlighting them. I'm a huge fan of people trying to make it in the music world. I know what I like and I choose to add people/bands/artists accordingly...doesn't mean that you're not good...it's probably that I haven't noticed you...yet. If I do like you, I'll add you to keep up on what you're doing. Also, other people might catch a glimpse of you through here. You also don't have to be from Connecticut for me to follow your groove.
I have a positive outlook on life. I love to write children's stories and non fiction. Obviously, I also love to write meandering posts that weave their way back eventually to the main gist of the whole reasoning for why I started writing in that moment. Usually. I write for me first. I write to analyze, heal, vent, share, bitch, brag, gush, or whatever motivates me in the moment. If I'm motivated at all.
I'm rather eclectic especially in my spirituality. I am an Interfaith Minister. Many are shocked by this. I am not a preacher. I am a student. A philosopher if you will. I'm also a Reiki Master (ask me if you'd like to know more). The wonderful part of Reiki is that it uses the energy that surrounds us to the benefit of others. Recently, I have begun training in Tai Chi & Qigong. I can't even begin to express this amazing path! I am also a magician, not the slight of hand sort, but a mage. I am on a path to find the truth...wisdom...Sophia as the Gnostics call it. Anais Nin stated, "When we blindly adopt a religion, a political system, a literary dogma, we become automatons. We cease to grow." Sometimes others say what we intend far better than we can ourselves.
I'm also a licensed massage therapist. No I do not do sexual massages. I'm licensed through Connecticut and certified through the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Bodywork and Massage...say that three times fast! As with all that I do, my practice has a spiritual approach...enrichment of the body as well as mind and spirit.
Neither of these paths are what I do for a living. I keep that bit of me to myself. I'm a little secretive at times. I was born in the Year of the Rat. I keep certain information close to me revealing as I deem necessary.
My children are my most precious gifts who dazzle and delight me daily with their amazing wonderful vitality. I have three. My daughter, age eleven(ugh!) often referred to as DQ (drama queen) and my boyo, now nicknamed Romeo, age eight. The third recently came into my life when I married again. She is seven. She reminds me of Shirley Temple. Cute and adorable!
At last, my love has come along, my lonely days over and life is like a song ~ Etta James This will probably make you want to gag but I'm in love with a man who is beyond the man of my dreams, oh and yes...he is now my husband! We met in August of 2005 and married just a short while later in November 2005. We eloped to St. John and spoke our vows barefoot in the sand while the sun set behind us.
Getting to know me is an odyssey, a journey I hope you'll enjoy. I'm not typical. I don't fit into any one category. I've been described as Mary-Fucking-Poppins but I'm by NO means perfect or always that upbeat. A bit like Pandora, you don't know what you'll get until you open the box...or my space.
Who I'd like to meet: I told my husband about my crush before we married. Hey, he's got his top 100 and I've got Eric.
All kidding aside. I love meeting new people. I am a packrat and that includes friends. I enjoy uniqueness, even more, I prefer those I can learn from. Those who are in my friends' list are people who at some point or another have taught me something. Interestingly enough, they probably don't even know it. That is the greatest lesson someone could share...one that isn't asked for and one that is not forced. Thank you and if I haven't learned from you...I look forward to it.
I'm not one who usually self-promotes, though I don't know why. I'm pretty damn good at being me. If you like my blogs, feel free to subscribe. They are not anything extraordinary but they are mine. Enjoy!
That all being said, I don't add just anyone. I seek out those I want to surround myself with. If you've found me and like what you read from my profile or blogs, please feel free to request an add. I'm not looking for love in all the wrong places (read above). I will reply if you email me, but understand that mysp@ce is not my life.
Your task is not to seek for love, but merely to seek and find all the barriers within yourself that you have built against it.~ Rumi
