Bio
Oh, I'll get to my stuff just below this little bit of info.. If you haven't heard the latest Ian Gillan release, One Eye to Morocco, you're missing out. Another stellar production from Nick Blagona. Featuring Michael Lee Jackson, Rodney Appleby, and Joe Mennonna -- all from Gillan's 2006 North American tour -- as well as Howard Wilson, who played with me and Rodney on Gillan's Inn as well. It's available online everywhere -- check it out. Before One Eye to Morocco Ian Gillan released Live In Anaheim It's available on CD and DVD, and some configurations contain additional behind the scenes footage which is fantastic. The audio was recorded by Westwood One, and mixed/produced by the fabulous Nick Blagona (also in 5.1). This product kicks ass. Buy it. .. The set list that night included a few Purple tracks and others never before performed live, and was as follows:.. Second Sight.. No Laughing in Heaven .. Into the Fire .. Hang Me Out To Dry .. Have Love Will Travel .. Wasted Sunsets .. Not Responsible .. No Worries .. River's Of Chocolate (a/k/a "G Jam").. Unchain Your Brain.. Bluesy Blue Sea.. Moonshine .. Texas State of Mind .. Sugar Plum.. When a Blind Man Cries .. Men of War .. Drum Solo .. Smoke On The Water .. Trouble .. Knocking at Your Back Door .. .. Check out the Gillan's Inn Tour Edition -- nope it's not a live CD/DVD, but rather a special edition of Gillan's Inn, with different bonus footage, some supplied by fans, some we shot on the tour bus and back stage...a different running order of tracks, some live bonus tracks, including one old Purple song never performed on stage...and lots more... .... .. My last record, In a Heartbeat is available on iTunes and Amazon.com, among many other web locations. .. .. .... .. Give a listen to Broadcast Asylum, pirate radio at it's finest, supporting indie music far and wide, including yours truly :). .... .. ...... .. .. .. Not really a bio just an introduction of sorts... .. Hi there, and thanks for stopping by. .. Yep, this is me, Michael Lee Jackson. I'm a rock and roll guitar player/singer/song writer, an attorney, and a manager, among other things. I am seriously peripatetic, with an insatiable thirst for travel, new experiences, and wreaking every bit of enjoyment I can out of my life. Having said that, there are few things I enjoy more than quality time and conversations with good friends and family, no matter where, whether at home or some quite dive bar with some character. What else? I believe strongly in making regular deposits at the karma bank, cause you never know when you might need a withdrawal....Sure, there's lots more, but you..ll just have to get to know me ;). .. Check out the "Who the f*&k am I" blog for more and re the 2006 Ian Gillan tour or go to www.gillansinn.com and www.caramba.com for more details. .. My label started this site for me to support my new record, "In a Heartbeat" but I've been having a blast here meeting new people from all over the world, and getting back in touch with some old friends. I should say something about the record, but there is more about it in the aforementioned "Who the f*&k am I" blog...but suffice to say I'm very proud of this one. Some great rock and roll and good songs on here, superbly produced by Nick Blagona. Ian Gillan sang back up on a few tracks, and lead on "Have Love Will Travel." What else can I tell ya? Check it out, and if you like it, let me know, and hell, there's a link below where you can buy it at a reasonable price. .. I try to answer most of my mail, so feel free to drop me a line if you're inclined, whether you want to rant about current politics (I'm probably with you on that...), talk music, law or just say hello. If I don't get right back to you, please don't be insulted. I'll do my best, but to say that I'm profoundly busy would be an understatement. .. I have been lucky enough to have made some amazing friends on myspace, and I'm quite thankful for that and flattered by many kind words I've received about my music. .. Influences
Good honest music, from early blues artists like Lightning Hopkins to Django Reinhardt, to more modern artists such as ACDC, Deep Purple, Jimi Hendrix, Led Zepplin, Robin Trower, Stevie Ray Vaughn. But that's a tiny list really. My music is really a blender drink made up of everything I've heard that moved me in some way. -
Sounds Like
Hell, I don't know. I think it sounds like me, but I'll leave that up to you. Buy it dammit, you'll love it. :)
