I fell in love with a set of drums from the very beginning, I was just four. I tried to explore its potential as far as could go than, while the years went by, I couldn’t relate everything to it…I can’t express myself only as a drummer…so now I try to see music in all its aspects, not only from a drummer point of view, I try to keep my mind as open as I can, avoiding barriers and limitations.
…FORGET ALL THE RULES, IF IT SOUNDS GREAT, IT SOUNDS GREAT…
It’s difficult to spell out precisely how my passion for music begun, probably it started exactly when I was born and since then it grew up next to me every day…it’s even harder then to explain what kind of force keeps pushing me to make music and what meaning it has been or it has now or it will have in future life.
Anyway I’m going to try and open up for once in my life, not only behind a drum kit but actually speaking out and get my ideas across even to the ones who doesn’t really know music, I want them to understand better.
You know, first of all music for me it’s a good friend, she’s faithful and sincere, sometimes slightly tough but just like every good mate it has to be when you’re going out of the road…I “Officially” started playing the drums at the end of 1985 when my Dad (musician as well) and my older brothers made the decision to buy me a drum kit “ALL MINE”.
After that nothing was the same for me, everything seemed so different. It’s very much like I found the meaning of my life when I was only five.
I believe music is a part of Me, I can’t picture myself without playing, it’s in my DNA, I just can not live without music.
IT’S LIKE BREATHING…WOULD YOU BE ABLE TO LIVE WITHOUT BREATHING?
For many years what I was aiming for was to improve my skills, that’s a purpose you must up to date everyday because in music just like in real life there’s always something to learn. But while the years went by, probably because I grew up and became more mature, this ambition got bigger and bigger and it shaped nicely with more complex colours…for instance now I’d like to spread a message and communicate with people who has interests in life or perhaps to forge and originate new interests to someone who doesn’t have any.
Personally I think that music and Art in general is like a gift, a magic donation from someone above, some sort of superior entity. It’s difficult to give a proper name to it but if you pay attention you can listen to its splendid voice or watch the reflections of its beauty.
Ho amato la batteria dal primo momento, avevo quattro anni. Ho cercato di conoscerla al meglio delle mie possibilità poi, col passare del tempo, non mi e' più bastata... non riesco ad esprimere tutto me stesso solamente attraverso di lei... così cerco di guardare la musica nella sua interezza, non solo da "Batterista" e senza barriere mentali che mi impongano limitazioni di genere o interpretazione.
…DIMENTICA LE REGOLE, SE SUONA BENE SUONA BENE...
Difficile spiegare come e' nata la mia passione per la musica, probabilmente e' nata insieme a me,ed e' cresciuta con me di pari passo...ancor più difficile però e' spiegare cosa mi spinga dalla mia notte dei tempi a fare musica, e che significato essa abbia avuto, ha o avrà nella mia vita, tuttavia voglio provare ad aprirmi pà una volta non solo da dietro una fila di tamburi ma a parole in modo che tutti, anche i meno appassionati possano comprendere meglio;
Sapete la musica per me da sempre e' per prima cosa un'amica, fedele, sincera a volte un po' dura ma come ogni buon amico che si rispetti deve pur esserlo a volte, quando si rischia di andare fuoristrada...
Ho iniziato "ufficialmente" a suonare alla fine del 1985, quando papà (musicista anch'egli) ed i miei fratelli più grandi, decisero di regalarmi una batteria "TUTTA MIA";
Da allora nulla per me fu uguale a prima, tutto prese un sapore diverso, era come se avessi trovato il senso della mia vita già a 5 anni, non riesco infatti ancora oggi, ad immaginarmi senza la mia musica penso faccia parte di me, credo sia nel mio dna e non potrei mai farne a meno(E' COME RESPIRARE...RIUSCIRESTE A VIVERE SENZA RESPIRARE?).
Per molto tempo il mio obbiettivo e' stato solamente quello di suonare sempre meglio..., obbiettivo per altro in continuo aggiornamento perchè in musica come nella vita non si finisce mai di imparare, ma nel corso degli anni probabilmente grazie ad una maturazione, questo obbiettivo si e' ampliato ed ha preso forma e colore più complessi... come per esempio diffondere un messaggio comunicare con la gente che prova interessi nella vita e magari crearne di nuovi in chi non ne ha...
Personalmente credo che la musica, e le arti in genere, siano un dono, il dono di un entità superiore a cui neanche io mi sento di dare un nome attraverso il quale, se ci facciamo caso, possiamo ascoltare L'eco della sua splendida voce, o vedere i riflessi delle sue sembianze...
