This is only a fan page for Manfred Mann's Earth Band. This is not the official site. I am merely documenting the band on MySpace for everyone and allowing the fans to enjoy it for themselves. .. .. .. Manfred Mann's Earth Band begain in 1971. The South-African keyboardist, Manfred Mann formed the Earth band after a break up with the former group of the 60's "Manfred Mann." The former group is now known as "The Manfreds," but Mann himself is no longer involved with the group. .. .. The first breakthrough came for the band around 1976-1977 when the song "Blinded by the Light," reached 1 in the USA. The band toured the world at the time. At this moment in history, the lead vocalist for MMEB was Chris Thompson. .. .. The Earth Band is known for such hits as Blinded by the Light, Mighty Quinn, Martha's Madman, Davy's on the Road Again, Spirits in the Night, Don't Kill it Carol, For You, etc. .. .. The Earth Band continues to tour throughout Europe in present day. The lineup only consists of two original members from the old days which are Manfred Mann himself, as well as Mick Rogers. .. .. Although the band no longer tours the United States of America and has not done so since 1978, we are hopeful that one day in history, we will again see the talent in our lands! Chris Thompson (1975-1997) .. The most commercially successful vocalist that the Earth Band has ever had. Chris Thompson is known for his crisp voice and ability to relay the true information behind the lyrics of a song when being presented. Chris left the band in 1997, but has appeared on many of Mr. Mann's solo albums since then. Chris now works on his solo career singing some of the old Earth Band hits, sounding like they should since his voice is the only one that can portray it correctly. .. .. Pete May (2001-2002) .. No information on this member. .. .. John Trotter (1996-2000) .. No information on this member. .. .. Clive Bunker (1991-1993) .. No information on this member. .. .. Pat King (1977-1982) .. Pat King worked with the band for a few years as a bassist. He is now employed as the Earth Band's road manager. .. .. Chris Slade (1971-1978) .. Chris Slade was a found member of Manfred Mann's Earth Band. He had previously worked with Tom Jones. Chris was known for his thin appearance and his headband. He is a highly regarded drummer in the industry. Upon leaving the Earth Band, Slade played drums for AC/DC, Jimmy Page, and Damage Control among others. .. .. Colin Pattenden (1971-1978) .. No information on this member. .. .. Steve Waller (1979-1983) .. Stever Waller was another highly regarded member. Known for his top hat and long beard, these were only a rough look. Waller was known as one of the nicest people to meet. He provided vocals on some songs alongside Chris Thompson. Sadly, Steve Waller passed away in February of 2000. .. .. Matt Irving (1981-1986) .. No information on this member. .. .. John Lingwood (1979-1986) .. No information on this member. .. .. Dave Flett (1975-1978) .. No information on this user. .. .. Geoff Dunn (2002-2007) .. No information on this member. .. .. Noel McCalla (1991-2009) .. Noel McCalla joined when the Earth Band reformed in 1991. His voice was completely different than anything the band had ever experienced. While Chris Thompson was a rock vocal powerhouse, Noel had a weaker, but bluesier style voice. His commercial success was nowhere near that of C.T. It was announced September 1, 2009, that Mr. McCalla would no longer work with the band. .. ..
