Educated at the Western Conservatory of Music in Ontario, Canada, Mike began playing the violin at the age of five. His passion for music led him to a string performance major at Youngstown State University, and more than 10 years of national touring with rock and acoustic ensembles.
After a brain tumor took away his ability to play, Mike used the opportunity to relearn his beloved instrument. This time as a fiddle player.
Currently, Mike performs with the acclaimed mountain music group Blue Moonshine.
His new schedule also includes solo to full band gigs.
When not performing, Mike can be found at the Floyd Music School. Where he is founder and director. Teaching violin/fiddle, guitar and mandolin.

Mike is also a session player. working with, among others, Mountain Fever Recording, Flat Five Press and Recording and Blackwater Recording Studios.
He lives in Floyd County, Virginia with his wife and two children.
