Members of great American bands The Replacements, Son Volt and The Gourds have contributed to Mike Nicolai's recordings - he has been a steady presence on the Austin, TX music scene for over a decade and toured throughout the US and Europe, spinning yarns the online music zine Audiogalaxy call "... a bizarre lyrical tableau, veering from angry to funny to chillingly cold and real, sometimes within a single verse..." He has played several tours supporting friends and Austin Americana legends The Gourds, accompanied by the band's rhythm section, and continues to perform locally and on the road both solo with guitar and as a member of the rock band The Bremen Riot, a collaboration with Austin's Grand Champeen.
