A good singer-songwriter for compiling an album better should have is a talent to assemble a whole series of realisations in the concept of life, under the form of expressions that are able to increase that consciousness with a strength of emotion and with an accompaniment that increase the effect in that way so that the songs work as a thought meditation like a re-experiencing of those moments of realisations. Good songs that touch the heart do this with voice, song, emotion and thought at once. Singer-songwriter Vincent Dupas has all this talent to do so, with a few moments that catch this easier and others that demand deeper listen and attention, but all the elements are there. The accompaniment just seems rather simple, with fingerpickings and voice, but there are very subtle additional softer pickings or some strums or some subtle dual vocal overdubs: never more than is really needed. On the interpretation of the Scottish “Winds are blowing” his voice is from the poor man, inflicting strongly with its trembling voice, not sounding too far as an effect from the strongest C.O.B. expressions, even when this is in a more songwriting context. Also the second song has a comparable effect like this. The compilation of songs put the realisations in focus in a personal, social and socializing context. It is the hard working man against the irresponsible in a relationship, or towards making money (as if the devil took part into the national pride to gain as much money as possible without looking at the costs or effects). It is for instance seeing the father or old man with his pride losing all his sons after making preferences and some circumstances. An album that can grow deeper with several listens. Well done.
