Welcome! I’ve created this MySpace page to share my art, network with other artists, and meet people I share interests with (especially people local to Cincinnati, since I recently moved here).

“Existential Outsider Art” is the term I use to describe my work. The “existential” part is due to the tone of the subject matter I tend to embrace - a search for meaning in an odd world. “Outsider” refers not only to the zaniness of my themes, but is also due to the fact that I am self-taught and don’t have much contact with the mainstream art world.

I am inspired by life's mundane aspects, oddities, and hardships, and like to look for humor in all of it. I am also inspired by dia de los muertos, various psychological theories (I have a PhD in Clinical Psych), punk rock, personification, irony, dark humor and taboo.

I paint in acrylics, which make me smile.

What I thought was the rain, And arthritical pain Was far from the answer, the doctor explained. “What you’ve got here are teeth, That lie deep beneath Your lower spinal frame.” I listen in aw, as he starts to explain That what I was feeling, And my continuous screaming, Was not from a dream, But simply a twin, That settled right in, And began to devour my spleen! The doc called it Lillian, my sister inside, I screamed out in pain when she gnawed on my side. There’s nothing to do! There’s no way to sleep! The doc says that Lillian is one in a billion And I can’t live without her, She makes my heart beat! So it’s off now to bed, the worst place I dread. I’ll do anything to fall fast asleep.
