Flight Instruction, Ham Radio, Leather !!! (yep, I'm know learning the leather trades). Its pretty cool stuff, and really lends itself to wearable computing as well. Now, if only I could solder to it!
You are a EXTRA. You are a bit crazy. You enjoy
taking risks. More so than most, and you find
that the risks you take pay off with the
excitement you got from the adventure. You
are a top-grade, bad *ss. My kind of person!!
loud is good, fast is good too.... 120db is more than loud enough. Our old cabs from years back had warnings that the 133db SPL they could kit out could result in permanent hearing loss. I don't doubt it.
I've played metal, rock, jazz, country, old time, comtemporary Christian, and coffee house music
Jazz is fun to play, but stanards are not so much for listening
Anyone need an older bass guitarist for a rock band???, just kidding. I have played in almost every state, and 4 countries. Primarily as bass guitarist, but have also done the roadie and electrician thing for others. Not into rigging though, that was too scary even as a young guy. I made a fair amount of cash from music back then, but the life on a bus or driving all night is a time that has long since passed. I miss it ocassionally, I don't miss the studio stuff... headaches and folks with a bad attitude are not cool. Live is better. The power to shake an auditorium or the stage is amazing, especially when the bass reverberates against the walls of an empty venue! Every bassist should get to do this at least once. It will blow your mind
I also played sax, although I must admit my proficiency on it was nowhere near as good as bass.
At one point, I had over 450 country tunes in my repertoire, I don't even listen to it anymore, figuring thats a lifetimes worth
What am I doing today with music, virtually nothing other than listening. Every once in a while I think it would be cool, especially when I saw Fleetwood Mac still going at it. I used to get calls to go on the road, but engineering was too more lucrative, so I'd turn it down. Who knows what the future will hold, but its not going to be something I'll pursue. I do take on audio engineering from time to time, but unless its really complex design, I generally pass.
I'm listening to many of the young folks today. Some are pretty mind blowing and full of potential. The tune in the background is from Arafax, and I think their is some amazing potential there. I will keep an eye on him. I did get blown away though with some tunes on myspace. Cynthia Marshall has the unusual ability to cross genre's and make it work. Talk about a ton of talent there. Had I not found myspace, chance are I would have missed her songs. Amazing!
You are the 5-String Jupiter bass guitar from
Ritter. This bass can be described in one
word: awesome.
most but not all Bogart films. Star Wars, the whole deal. My old roommate has been involved with some super cool fils, looks like he's been busy out in Hollywood. 14 entrys in IMDB, now if I can only figure out how to bug him. The funniest thing is a classmate of mine in highschool was a screenwriter for a pretty big box office hit, and it turns out my old roommate was involved with it too. I dount they ever met though. Too funny.
Television
My wife got me a Howie Muntz TV from the 50's before we got married. It is super cool. I also like the Philco Continental.
The Lucas motto: "Get home before dark." This is way too true
Lucas--inventor of the self-dimming headlamp. btdt too, fortunately, I have mechanical means to change the headlight angle when that happens
The three-position Lucas switch--DIM, FLICKER and OFF. The other three switch settings--SMOKE, SMOLDER and IGNITE.
Quality Assurance phoned and advised the Engineering guy that they had trouble with his design shorting out. So he made the wires longer.
I have one patent issued, two in pending status, and another one I'm working on. I've thought about taking the patent bar.... and thats way too much work, and the prep classes are $$$$$$ I could learn a lot of it the hard way, and besides, I don't really want to do the apprentice thing
My ham call is KB0PAX, although I haven't been incredibly active. I'm actually thinking of taking the extra test before the new no code regs go through. I had a CSCE for the advanced some years back, but couldn't get my code up fast enough, so it expired. I do think software based radios are incredibly cool.
Getting old, ok I am old, as is anyone over 30
Many years ago I was a naturalist instructor... now do you suppose I can even identify weeds that come up in my garden? I'm into total immersion study, but unfortunately, that does have some ramifications into long term knowledge aquistion, especially when it comes into subjects where the total immersion was too short. Eg, I could speak Italian when I was there, now, well, I can still handle Italian software somewhat, but thats about it. The Olympics sure bore that out.
ENTP - "Inventor". Enthusiastic interest in everything and always sensitive to possibilities. Non-conformist and innovative. 3.2% of the total population.
You are the Cats Eye Nebula. Your center probably
consists of two stars orbiting one another,
which appear as a single point of light at
the center of the nebula. As a result, you
contain intricate structures including
concentric gas shells, jets of high-speed
gas, and unusual shock-induced knots of gas.
You are approximately 1,000 years old, and are a
visual "fossil record" of the
dynamics and late evolution of a elderly
star.
You are an S13 Silvia or a 180sx depending on
whether or not you like the hatch and the
headlights. You are perfect for drifting,
will accept any engine, and are easy to
repair when broken. Close to perfect, but not
quite a SilEighty.
folks interested in beyond 3D internet. It seems we keep cranking out technology that is too far ahead of the market in the process of commercialization of market driven product. Oh well, lots of cool stuff to sit on the shelf and wait a few years.
folks who have a killer app for some technology we developed....
1. A similiar, but different method to solve some of the problems with wheels of zeus.
2. A incremental innovation in micro data storage and analysis
folks with ideas, that need a little or perhaps a lot of help to get them rolling. I've taken well over 100 products to market over the years.
folks who want to learn to fly, any and all questions welcome concerning airplanes. Helicopters, balloons, gliders, and airships are outside of my expertise, but I'll see what I can do.
and of course anyone that banters about S12's or theology
Celebrating one of our greatest teachers " For we are mere students in this thing called love, for we did not discover it, it discovered us. We can not think we have mastered it or completely understand it. For to think we have it mastered we are fooling ourselves and robbing it of it's majesty. We can no less create love then we can create the world in seven days. " May you be surrounded today by the majesty of this great teacher. Happy Valentines Day, Your Friend, Sage
*hugs* for Ronfucius...man, I suck at this commenting thing, lol. I really do love you, sock...I'm just really bad at shaping my love into an appropriate and acceptable MySpace comment. *doh* Take comfort in the knowledge that you are not alone...I'm horrible at commenting EVERYBODY on my friends list.
Guess what?! I haven't logged into CF in over 24 hours. I'm so proud of me :P. And I have to hand this psych lab report in in less than 6 hours and it's not nearly finished. eek.
Soon, soon...I was just singing in my car earlier tonight(until the kids told me to HUSH)...so surely a CD is soon to follow for that kind of talent, right? I'll autograph it, "To my bestest sock ever...Love, Heather...ooops, I mean Britany"
