SeoTaiji’s music cannot be defined in just one thing. He crosses over every boundary of music genres, and after deconstructing the forms, creates the music of his own.
Suddenly he occupied the territory of “rap” and “dance music,” and 10 years after his first album Seotaiji and Boys which has been acclaimed as the biggest music event since Independence, he has released 6 regular albums which compose of rap, hiphop, metal, rock, funk, soul, slow pop, hard core, pimp rock curiously and harmoniously.
More than that, to express exactly the contents of his music, he places vocals, effectors, instruments, and even rhyme of lyrics in their own proper slots. In the whole process of composing, arranging, and writing lyrics, he has inserted many hidden codes, but he conveys them with melodies easy enough for many innocent fans who do not know even the grammar of the codes.
So his albums have become not only masterpieces of this generation and but also the million sellers. Seotaiji’s music has always been new and another genre.

SeoTaiji is a system that takes itself to the utmost limits and nevertheless works properly without even smallest errors. He has controlled his own time with alternation of accumulation and exploration that is temporary breaks and comebacks. He has become a model who has broken the slavish chain of management companies and mass media. His songs have been represented in his precisely programmed concerts. At every release of his album, he has given birth to a new total style of dance, costume, and hair style. He is a musician, director, manager, and stylist at the same time. SeoTaiji, the most well known hit commodity, has overcome the barrier of black-and-white logic,” commercialism or revolution’ since his system has been operated.
His identity that keeps itself under self-development deepening and expanding continuously is a strong cultural brand and cultural style.

Seotaiji - the Phenomenon

The world has called him ‘the President of culture,’ ‘the spokesman of new generation,’ ‘revolutionary leader.’ This application is always the core of music activities, even though it has not been his ultimate aim. Apparently, his music and style tally with the desire and the sensitivity of TV generation. In addition, the music laborer who quitted his high school for music with his life style is a threat for the old mainstream order on the one hand, and a role model for the new generation on the other. So his messages are not a far cry in the desert nor dusty old ideas, but allay the failures of the new generation and fulfills their desires for derailment in substitutions, and persuade them to stand up and act.
