MOBSTER
Mobster has dug out golden grains from the Jamaican soil and mixed new with retro. Tropical with European, energy with passion to create the music they love: SKA.
Ska is passion! Passion for music. Passion for the jumping, stomping, skanking rhythms and sounds.The groovy bass lines and backbeat guitars. The magic horns. Music you must dance to.
Mobster has raised European ska to a new level and now make this solemn promise:
You'll not be unaffected or be able to sit down when you listen to the sound of Mobster.
The members of Mobster are not unknown for the wide audience. Mobster was formed by Mike Salonen and Nick Anderberg (former members and songwriters of The Skalatones) in Spring 2007.
The Drummer, Peter Örtberg, was also a former member of The Skalatones. A fresh new, guitar sound was served by Anders Jeppsson (formerly in Rude Bois) and the organ by Tobias Jarl (formerly in Kung Kodum).
In the beginning Mobster used a cocktail of horns which was served by Peter Stjernfeldt (Liberator), Linda Byqvist (The Bustups) Jonas Karlsson (The Skalatones) and Lena Edlund (Krabb).
The band early on recorded a demo-CD called “Lucky”, which contained 5 songs and were distributed to ska-fans and promoters. Mobster quickly got some great gigs at festivals during Summer 2007.
The band moved on to start to record a full-length album during Autumn. The result was “The Knee Jerk Reaction”. A knee-jerk reaction is an instant, instinctive response to a situation, so the band used this expression for the record to provoke an instant, instinctive urge to make you lift your knees, start dancing and follow Mobster into the wonderful world of ska music.
The record was released early in 2008 by Swedish ska pioneers AMTY Records. AMTY has always been true to ska and the band felt they were the best to promote the record. At the same time Mobster introduced a new trombone-player: Joakim Toftgård.
During the rest of the year Mobster promoted the release with live shows, media and more. In time for the summer festivals the band was joined by Kalle Dahgren on saxophone. Two videos to promote "The Knee Jerk Reaction" were produced by Director Isidor Torkar. Mike, Nick and Anders also started writing new songs. Some of these were recorded in the Summer.
Mobster is currently working on their second album.

A man is lying in bed in a Catholic hospital with an oxygen mask over his mouth. A young auxiliary nurse appears to sponge his face and hands.
"Nurse," he mumbles from behind the mask, "Are my testicles black?"
Embarrassed the young nurse replies, "I don't know, I'm only here to wash your face and hands."
He struggles again to ask, "Nurse, Are my testicles black?"
Again the nurse replies, "I can't tell. I'm only here to wash your face and hands."
The ward sister was passing and saw the man getting a little distraught so she marched over to inquire what was wrong.
"Sister," he mumbled, "Are my testicles black?"
Being a nurse of longstanding, the sister was undaunted. She whipped back the bedclothes, pulled down his pajama trousers, moved his penis out of the way, had a good look, pulled up the pajamas, replaced the bedclothes and announced, "Nothing is wrong with them!!!"
At this the man pulled off his oxygen mask and asked again, "Are my test results back???
