Influences
Northern California provides the beautiful backdrop to the sonic landscapes that Model A creates. Ranging in influence from electronica, glitch, breaks, and ambient textures to odd time grooves and classical influenced progressions and walls of shoegazed space/psych rock, Model A has been a staple on iTunes essentials' for Modern Prog and has performed with many eclectic acts including Mark Gardner of Ride, Goldrush, Jason Webley, Oma Yang, Volta Du Mar, Trevor Dunn of Mr. Bungle/Fantomas, and Dale Crover of the Melvins. Having such a unique sound has made Model A musical chameleons and leaves promoters scratching their heads at times. But in this climate where people are reaching out for something different, Model A is standing out. It's about following your own path with deaf ears to the status quo, keeping only in mind the real goal of making the best possible music that you can. That is the idea behind Model A. Because of our exploits, many people cast their chips describing us as Progressive. Well, that is true in a way, though not in the sense that you would define as a sound as we will do a pop song if we damn well feel like it. We just don't have rules, except that we really don't do that extensive noodling, musical masturbatory nonsense that comes with prog. You have to draw lines somewhere.
Sounds Like
indie electro experimentastical melodia. dense sound landscapes. we make our own sound and we change it all the time. if you don't like it, wait for the next song, because it probably will be totally different. it's from the heart though and that is the main thing, first and foremost. we try to push the envelope a bit but then we make it so that the average joe can listen to it. it is a difficult path to take. it always makes us laugh when people tell us the music reminds them of some band we sound nothing like. it just means we are doing our jobs.
