Influences
Blondie, Queens of the Stoneage, RHCP, Living Colour, Portishead, The Who, No Means No, The Killers, Garbage, No Doubt, CAKE, Pat Benetar, Joan Jett and The Blackhearts... and let's call them inspirations ... We are not into playing under the influence unless it comes in liquid form.
Sounds Like
Modern Day Blondie or Siouxie and the Banshees but harder... huh? Oh go kareoke! Modern Addict sounds like Modern Addict and we are convinced that we sound like no one else... do not mess with that all too common delusion... no templates were used so open your ears and let it be different from anything else you've heard - that's the goal ... love it - hate it -use it as a virtual myspace coaster ... nooo ... love it of course ... love it!!! **************************************************************
Iggy once wrote, "The proof is in the pudding." And while he was writing about the simplistic, yet visceral Stooges attack, he could have just as easily been philosophizing about the essential ingredients of any burgeoning musical endeavor. One such example is that of Madison, WI's Modern Addict, whose rhythm-fueled distortion rock began in May of 2005.
In their first year, the talented 4 shot out flashes of refinement from a quarry of raw power. Taking a short break at the end of 2006 to heal an injury and assess their musical landscape, the Addicts were chomping at the bit and ready to play on, expanding on their already tight, energetic rhythms and lively performances. Still notably absent of the desire to follow trends or be the next passenger on the bandwagon to the forgotten city of desperate cash-ins, Modern Addict is poised for a breakout year. The band remains focused on live shows and the completion of memorable songs for a full-length release in 2007................................... They are also still shooting for that Grammy in the untelevised catagory.

A few fresh fav notes/ reviews of the band:
..."a voice similar to Suoxie, with the rapid fire delivery of the Lunachicks. Ya'll kick major hinney" "Modern Addict fronted by Rebecca Derringer, hails from Madison. The band rides the knife edge of punk and rock n' roll, continuing in the traditions of female fronted bands like "X" and the "X-ray Specs". Derringer was non-stop action on the stage, dancing and cavorting. She lashed out with her voice, which is a cross between Siouxie from the Banshees and Theo from the "Lunachicks". "When the love of performing defines a night like this one on the stage at Tom's Garage, it is impossible to not leave smiling, giddy and just a touch sad that the whole thing is over." Rick's Cafe - M.P. El-ahrairah
"IT WAS AN INCREDIBLE JOY WATCHING YOU ROCK IT OUT LIKE THAT" "ALL CLASSYNESS AND KOOL THRASYNESS..."YOU GUYS WERE THE BEST SHOW THERE, OF COURSE... I LOVE YOUR VOCAL STYLE...ITS REALLY AWESOME... FABULOUS ENERGY...""YOU GUYS SHOULD DO L.A.
YOUR MUSIC WOULD BLOW OTHERS AWAY..." - S. S.
"That was amazing! This sweet lovely girl skips up to you in a pretty dress with a basket of flowers smiles, winks, then molten music starts up she suddenly starts whipping sharp knives at you with lightening speed and incredible precision this phenom voice that peaks the meters with unbelievable power. Before you know it you've been pinned to a human spinning wheel. She could've killed you and you both know it. She sexily saunters up with more mirth than malice singing softly now with a growl, kisses you full on the mouth, wipes her lips, smirks and walks away with her protective bretheren leaving you bewildered in a daze not sure of what happened but very sure that it was incredible and you wish it would happen again. kick ass. Thank you for that!" - Pat All Mighty
"That rocked! You guys sound kinda like Sleater-Kinney" "I wanted to say You're such an inspiration! Have you ever heard of a band called Sleater-Kinney? yeah well you remind me of them. I love them." "You remind me a bit of Sleater-Kinney- very cool" " Has anyone ever told you that you sound like Sleater-Kinney?" "You remind me of Missing Persons" "Sounds a bit like Missing Persons" "Wow like what Missing Persons would've sounded like in this decade!" "Souixie and the Banshees! I totally hear it!" Souixie, Souixie, Souixie, X, X, Souixie, Missing Persons, Missing Persons, Sleater Kinney, Sleater Kinney.... - various artists ... mmm no ... we've never heard that before ;)
Thanks for the kind words...really glad you like our new tunes. We'll have to come to Madison again soon (well, maybe not soon....winters are too cold for me).
