"You're such an inspiration for the ways that I will never ever choose to be
Oh so many ways for me to show you how your savior has abandoned you

Fuck your god
Your lord, your Christ
He did this
Took all you had and
Left you this way

Still you pray, never stray, never
Taste of the fruit
Never thought to question why

It's not like you killed someone
It's not like you drove a hateful spear into his side
Praise the one who left you broken down and paralyzed
He did it all for you
He did it all for you

Oh so many ways for me to show you how your dogma has abandoned you

Pray
To your Christ, to your god
Never taste of the fruit
Never stray, never break, never
Choke on a lie

Even though he's the one who
Did this to you
Never thought to question why

It's not like you killed someone
It's not like you drove a spiteful spear into his side
Talk to Jesus Christ as if He knows the reasons why
He did it all for you
He did it all for you
Did it all for you"

I
agree with him. Studies show that Buddhist meditation, focusing the
mind in a certain way, leads to actual, positive changes in the brain.
People rarely question anything that is 1. good and 2. too much work to
try to verify. Similar studies have shown that musicians have a larger
auditory cortex. There was even a study that showed London taxi drivers
to have enlarged parts of the brain that handles making a 3D map of the
environment. If focusing on compassion, music, or mapping increases the
size of the part of the brain responsible for that feeling, why is it
so absurd to assume that focusing on violence wouldn't do the same?
Of course, most people have a filter that stops them from going as far
as Bundy did, but could this be why people don't even bat an eyelash at
all the violence in the middle east? Or why so many people aren't
outraged at Obama's broken promises to get the troops out of Iraq and
Afghanistan?

I disagree because I doubt that ted, who was forever in law school, jail, or killing women-had the money to afford an illegal porn addiction.  Now I'm no expert-but the porn of his day that was available to anyone didn't even have the tasteless flavor of today's porno products.-at least not any of the stuff that I've seen that would have been produced in the time that he was describing.

Hello

For those interested in animal rights/welfare fiction, please have a look to my novel “The Demon’s Trial”. The process of writing it is what made me a vegan, by the way.

Here is the link to the publisher:

The Demon's Trial

You can of course find it in any bookshop, including Amazon.com, where you can see some reviews:

The Demon's Trial

http://www.amazon.com/Demons-Trial-J-C-Costa/dp/1412086361/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1254923915&sr=1-1

If you ever read it, I would be very interested in having your thoughts about it.

Thank you

Lmao.

I'm sorry. 'At your age' is usually what I say to people even 7-10 years older than me. I honestly don't know how people make it that long in life.

And I like your analogy of truth as a direction rather than a goal. Though I think, there are some plausible alternatives, Christian Theism does claim that truth is something you can arrive at, that namely, the purpose in life is to have knowledge and fellowship with the Creator. Human happiness isn't the goal, but knowledge of that greatest being that which can be conceived. As a byproduct human happiness comes about, but that isn't the goal.
That's the way I tend to view things at the moment, though my problem is that
a)I hate most people who believe in God.
I mean, honestly, I have sooo much more in common with the freethinkers and atheists in my University than a single member of Campus Crusade for Christ
b)The more I study philosophy the less hope I have of getting a handle on things and grasping much of anything.

It baffles me how people can be so content in believing in God without ever having opened a book in their lives. I don't know how people can live life like that.

I'm ranting again and my thoughts make no sense so sorry.

Say, you wouldn't happen to want to take a road trip to OU and come to our Keg party tonight would you? :P

Blah. Randi.

I still like him. He's no philosopher, he just tackles what he sees to be dangerous in the only way he knows how.

But yes, what's the point of seeking 'truth', whatever the hell that may even mean?
Every notion of truth we may hold on to is completely contingent on events out of our control. 100 years from now some piece of evidence can completely overturn everything I believe today. Fuck I feel like Descartes.

How do you/have you made it through life to your age without going insane?

Show tunes?

I don't know, have I been different in the past couple of months?
I honestly don't know, maybe its due to a lack of general satisfaction with life? Feeling like a lone kid in a sea full of morons who do nothing but drink every day in our college so I try to read and keep busy but find myself even more dissatisfied for not having anyone to talk to about said things because no one can seem to be bothered to give a shit about anything important anymore. And if they do, they tend to have a remarkable inability to distinguish bullshit from reality. Blah.

That's Georg Cantor, the creator who thought he was a discoverer and lost his mind because of it.

Sir Roger Penrose acknowledged that Cantor invented things that were, in his time, just as important as the Twistor Penrose invented for our current universe, but Cantor tried to put them in a context of "discovery," which didn't work.
