Interests

  • General

I was raised in a small town in the wilderness of northern New England; so I love the outdoors. Camping, fishing, dirt bikes, 4x4's......you name it! I'm into Harley Davidsons, boats, sports cars, racing, animals, and high-tech gadgets. (I'm kind of a geek/grease monkey combined. Go figure! ;-) I like working with my hands; mechanical, customizing cars/motorcycles, fixing stuff etc.
  • Music

When I'm not completely immersed in the financial markets, I enjoy listening to classic and 80's "hair-band" rock, alternative, and some blues. But I can tolerate almost anything for a while. (please, no Barry Manilow! ;-)
  • Television

I have to admit, there are a few shows I've kind of gotten, shall we say, "hooked" on. I take alot of crap from my friends, but for some reason I like Smallville. Which of course is followed immediately by Supernatural. My only other current regular is Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles. How do I get caught up in this stuff? I don't know. ;-) Thankfully the season's over...so I can have my life back!!! I used to follow Lost, 24, and Prison Break too; but I've just missed too many episodes this year, and I can't keep up with what's going on.

About me:

I'm originally from New England. I came to Florida to attend college, then moved to Los Angeles to pursue an acting career for a couple of years. Did the "Hollywood scene" for a while; had some success; did a few small parts on movies and TV, then landed a role playing a student/football captain in a Fox TV high school kids show. (does anybody even remember that low-budget kids show "Sweet Valley High"? I know....how embarrassing! ;-) Did that for the '96 season, then came back to Florida to pursue career in finance. I come from Scandanavian and Anglo decent, and have spent considerable time learning about Nordic lore, runes, and other aspects of my heritage. I try to live every day with the pride and honor of my forefathers. So, you see, I truly am a 6-and-a-half-foot 250 lb "Modern Day Viking"! ;-) Also, in the interest of full disclosure, back in my younger days I had a little run-in with the law. I got to go visit "Club Fed". (go to my photos if you wanna see a pic of me in my cool uniform! Haha!) So, if you've got a problem with jailbirds, we probably wouldn't get along! ;-) .....I can't wait to get on my Harley and in the wind again!!!!... ;-)~

    I believe in angels
    those helpers who are near
    exactly when they're needed most,
    then seem to disappear.

I know them when I see them
    whatever their disguise
    they're patient and encouraging
    resourceful, kind, and wise.

    Yes, I believe in angels
    the kind that heaven sends
    and I'm surrounded every day
    by angels I call friends.

    God gave me someone special
    when He gave me
    A special friend like you.
    Have a Blessed Christmas!

The very first Thanksgiving was to celebrate a treaty between the pilgrims and the Indians. This was a large feast that had enough food to feed everyone for weeks. On the table was foul such as geese, turkey, swans, duck, etc. There was also lots of meat, vegetables and grains provided by both the Indians and the pilgrims. Everyone had a wonderful celebration, and certainly a wonderful meal.  The Native Indians even signed a paper stating that the pilgrims had the right to Plymouth.
Thanksgiving to the Native American Indians may not mean the same thing that it did to the white settlers in American History.  To the Indians, Thanksgiving would mean a totally different thing. This was the beginning of their end - a time where they had given up their land in return for gifts that were full of disease - which would kill many of them later down the road.
The White settlers would see this as a friendship being started, knowing that without the help of the Native American Indians, they would never have survived the rough winter.  It was a time of celebrating with family and friends and being thankful they were still around to do it.  Today, we celebrate it with our own family with turkey, yams and ham.
Thanksgiving will always be remembered as a time when the Native American Indians and Pilgrims sat at a long table and ate together, sharing everything they had with one another.

    Rain . . .

    Softly Falling Down . . .
    Each Drop A Symphony Of Sound . . .
As It Hits The Tin Roof . . .
    Tap . . . Tap . . . Tap.

It can sound just like a sad song with a slow beat . . .
the kind that makes you daydream . . .
and feel sad and sigh . . .
as you think of what might of been or could be in your life.

Or maybe it is a happy song that brings back sweet memories . . .
tender thoughts and special smiles . . .
thinking of someone who makes your heart beat faster . . .
and your laughter ring with happiness and joy.

Or maybe it is a love song . . .
with sweet and soft lyrics . . .
tender and romantic and sensual . . .
that makes you think of dancing in the rain.

Only you can decide which song . . .
is the one you are hearing . . .
which music soothes your soul . . .
and which song you want to sing along with.

Sometimes, you have to choose a song . . .
    and the choosing isn't easy.

When Things Go Wrong...As They Sometimes Will...
When The Road You're Trudging Seems All Up Hill...
When The Funds Are Low And The Debts Are High...
And You Want To Smile...But you Have To Sigh...
When Care Is Pressing You Down A Bit...
    Rest...If You Must...But Don't You Quit...
Life Is Funny With Its Twists And Turns...
As Everyone Of Us Sometimes Learns..
And Many A Failure Turns About...
Often The Goal Is Nearer Than...
It Seems To a Faint And Faltering Person...
Often The Struggler Has Given Up...
And They Learned Too Late...When The Night Slipped Down...
How Close They Were..And You Never Can Tell How Close You Are..
So Stick To The Fight When You're Hardest Hit...
It's When Things Seem Worst That You Must Not Quit...
So Go Out And Laugh Till It Hurts And Laugh Somemore...

I believe in miracles, they happen everyday. I’m not talking about the grandeous open the sea kind; but the ones like the birth of a baby. Some people think that miracles are earth shattering, or lightening bolt world changing events; but some times a miracle can be just being in the right place at the right time. I believe that some miracles are when you rise to the occasion to do the impossible.
On July 21st, I asked for thoughts & prayers when my oldest brother, Ray & his two children: Nikki (18) & Dylan (5) were hit by by a drunk driver. I heard from friends on here who I had NEVER heard from before. Others told me it was their 1st time praying EVER!
If you don’t believe in the power of prayer, please check out my Blog: A Drunk + A Car = Life Interrupted. I don’t care if you just look at the pictures of my brothers car. You can’t HELP but leave that blog without knowing or feeling or at least thinking: how did that happen, where did any good come from in the face of such a tragedy miracle?.3 hurt, 3 survived; against every ODD thrown at them! The blog updates you on the power PRAYER had in my life & world & it’s all because you, took the time to care! I believe that miracles are when the thing you least expect, is the thing you need the most. Sometimes people are the greatest miracle of all. I thank each of you for the thoughts, prayers & love you have shown my family & I.
    With love,
    ~Annalise~
