As one of the original political parties in America, our historic roots include four members elected President and also the original party of Abraham Lincoln. The Modern Whig Party is not a run-of-the-mill third party, but instead seeks to regain its position as a powerful, mainstream advocate for such issues as fiscal responsibility, strong national defense and bold social progression. Originally revitalized as an organization for military veterans and supporters, the Modern Whig Party is quickly gaining a diverse following that continues to add thousands of members each month. With its mainstream approach and bold, common sense ideals, the Modern Whig Party truly is for the rest of us.

After its absence from mainstream politics in the 19th Century, the Modern Whig Party reinvigorated itself in 2007. This process was culminated by the recognized re-establishment of its National Executive Committee in Washington, DC. The party vision is to establish a sizable membership of mainstream, independent-minded voters capable of capturing the attention of local and national media outlets. From there, we will devote all resources for the Congressional campaign of our most qualified member. If succesfull, the plan is to continue the revitalization of this historic political party. We also are seeking chairpersons for all 50 states to lead a more grassroots approach to the party.

National Chairman
Mike Lebowitz -- The chairman of the Modern Whig Party was selected in 2007 by a Board of Benefactors to lead the reinvigoration of this centuries-old party. Mike Lebowitz is uniquely qualified for this position based on his professional esteem and service to our country. In 2005-2006, he served in Iraq as a paratrooper with the elite Pathfinder Company of the 101st Airborne Division. Currently, he is an attorney with the Washington, DC law firm of Greenberg & Lieberman. In addition, Mike Lebowitz serves part-time as a JAG officer in the Virginia Army National Guard. He is known as an advocate for our military veterans and has organized major events in this regard. Mike Lebowitz also is an award-winning journalist and has spent a considerable amount of time in the field of media and legal reform in places such as East Africa and the Middle East. chairman@modernwhig.org
Executive Committee
The members of the Executive Committee assist in the operation and promotion of the Modern Whig Party. In addition, the Executive Committee works with local members in the 50 states as our party continues to grow. Based on their efforts, the party since 2007 has seen a drastic growth of about 3,000 members. It also should be noted that in keeping with the values and tradition of the Modern Whig Party, at least one member of the executive committee will always be a military veteran, Reservist/Guardsman or military spouse.
David Knight -- He is a published author and historian. David Knight also is engaged in international law and arbitration where he has assisted in the transformation of Cambodia and Liberia into more stable economic and social situations. Heather Stoner -- She has extensive experience in political science. In addition, Heather Stoner also is a gifted educator. heather@modernwhig.org
Adam Dolezal -- Prior to joining the executive committee, Adam Dolezal was engaged in the radio industry in Ohio. He then moved to the East Coast where he became very successful in the maritime field and continues to be highly sought after for his knowledge on the subject. Currently, Adam Dolezal serves as a technician for a major Maryland corporation. adam@modernwhig.org

Virginia, Maryland & District of Columbia

Who I'd like to meet: Membership:
The Modern Whig Party is not some sterile organization. We encourage participation and offer leadership positions to many qualified members. Our mission is to re-enter the public consciousness and cater to those voters who are independent-minded and find themselves cherry-picking issues from both the GOP and the Democratic Party. Perhaps this is why our membership is so diverse in their geographic locations, occupations and lifestyles. We believe that independent voters are the silent majority and all-to-often have to settle for the "lesser of two evils." We also realize that re-establishing a third party is an uphill climb under the current system. This is why our growing membership is key. The Modern Whig Party is geared toward those independent voters who want to be affiliated with a palatable national party. And unlike other existing parties, our party has a past history of success. For that reason, we have a foundation as the original party of Lincoln and the original middle-of-the-road organization. Thank you for your interest and we look forward with working with you to achieve our goals.

* Please Note: There are a number of fringe parties that invoke the Whig name. However, the Modern Whig Party is the only party that is recognized by the Executive Committee of the National Party. To that regard, the Modern Whig Party falls under direct lineage with its historic roots and continues to represent mainstream ideals in its modern incarnation.

What's a reasonable goal? A Whig President in our lifetime? These days, it seems anything is possible. How about a sizable minority in Congress? Whigs generally did defer to Congress after all.
