About Modern Works

Mixing trippy sixties psychedelia with a bombastic, contemporary pop sound, Modern Works are a classic mod fourpiece forged in Middlesbrough. Imagine the Small Faces catchier moments dragged kicking and screaming into the 21st century and given a high-velocity blues treatment, all draped in the archetypal regalia of the best sharp-dressing British bands needle-sharp denim, mod roundels and fringes you could sharpen a razor blade with.

With frontman Ben Fisher boasting a powerful, bluesy voice that conjures up all kinds of delirious sixties beat memories - think Eric Burdon with added sandpaper - Modern Works are set to storm the region's stages once again.

Thee Strawberry Mynde	Jun 29 2009 9:03 AM After a 6 month lay off Thee Strawberry Mynde are back with a gig in Ferryhill this Sunday (see details below). Ferryhill Is United is a community festival hosted by Show Racism The Red Card & Dean Banks residents association. The festival takes place on Sunday 5th July 2009 at Ferryhill Business & Enterprice College, Merrington Road, Ferryhill, DL17 8RW. The festival kicks off at 11am and will bring the community together to celebrate diversity and show that there's no place for racism in County Durham. There will be loads of activities for all ages including: Youth football tournament, sports & art workshops, fairground & climbing wall, live music including Sounds Of The World & Thee Strawberry Mynde.
