I like to do all sorts of things outdoors. I'm not an avid hunter or fisher, but I like shooting trap and spending long weekends on the river boating, although we'll see how the boating part goes here in Wyoming. I was fortune to have good friends in Iowa with boats and spent many a fun weekend on the Mississippi.
I also like to punish my truck in formidable off-roading adventures. I've found myself sprinting away into the mountains at every chance and taking lots of pictures. (Job benefit: possession of one hell of a nice photog rig.)
I play poker, read (as of this edit, just beginning Crime and Punishment -- thanks Casandra) both novels and the news. Did I mention I love photography, even if I have but a questionable talent for it? Oh, and I enjoy writing, too.
Music
I listen to a little bit of everything, but I've got a lot of classic and modern/alternative rock, jazz, and classical. Interestingly, being in Wyoming, I'm not usually much of a country guy, but I can certainly enjoy it when I hear it.
Movies
I'm a geek. I enjoy Star Trek and the Lord of the Rings. I watch westerns and action flicks. There are a lot of movies you've seen that I haven't, I'm sure. I'm just not that cultured.
Television
I don't own a TV, but I do try and catch House on the computer and a BBC show called TopGear.
About me: I am a reporter and photographer at the Thermopolis Independent Record, a weekly newspaper in Hot Springs County, Wyoming. I've spent most of my life in Iowa, but am originally from Cheyenne and had tried very hard to create an opportunity to return here, which I did only in January.
I am passionate about work and play. I spend a lot of time doing work related stuff, whether that be an interview I'd rather not do or using work as an excuse to buzz up into the mountains for a weekend of photography (see photo albums). When I can afford it, and when I have the time, I play poker and sometime dice. (Dice is big here -- it wasn't in Iowa. Hmm.)
I'm single, and really, a little isolated. I'm social but shy, I suppose. I did get myself a dog back in early March, and its helped to have a friend while I'm still settling in out here. But the people in Thermop have all been great and I realize these things take time.
I went to college at Morningside, a sleepy private school in Sioux City, Iowa, where I earned either a BS or a BA (they haven't decided yet) in journalism. While I love my newspaper work, my eventual goal is to do occasional freelance work and write fiction. But isn't that the dream of all writers, professional or otherwise?
Who I'd like to meet: Being a newspaperman, its somewhere in my job description that I should be meeting as many people as possible. I like to joke that if I could just accomplish a little professional networking during every visit to the tavern I could expense the cocktails.
That said, all are welcome.
Things are going good. Just getting ready for the school year. Fusion radio is back on air at 92.9FM. It's pretty sweet. We now have voicetracking capabilities. Planning on going to Student Council the second week to get our share of the money. Anyways, sounds like you have your hands full with the lady. Glad your doing so well. I just bought a hundred bucks of groceries which included plenty of the alcoholic beverages. Anyways until later.

Spelunking eh? Well I'm not sure that I was in any caves yesterday, well that is, unless you consider the court house a cave. ha! And considering how beautiful of a day it was, a cave is an accurate depiction. Too bad it got cold again today. I'm so ready for summer I can hardly stand myself. A piece of fiction eh??? Would love to know more. Wednesday might be bad for me, unless you go after 5... then it could possibly work. Otherwise, weekends are best.
