About me: Joining the Brown Berets:
If you are interested in joining the Brown Berets, we first advise you to go through our blog and read our Code of Conduct, History, and Communique to be informed of our organization.
History Summary
The 60's are well known for revolution, civil rights, and freedom of speech. Rarely (if ever) do we hear of the Chicano Struggles and impact on communities at that time, or the present. Chicanos in the Los Angeles area were tired of police harassment, discrimination, and being treated as "less-thans" because of their heritage, color, and socio-economic background. They wanted to strive for equality, justice, solidarity, but most of all peace. They began organizing and helped bring community awareness to the Vietnam draft, politics, and even political representation just to name a few. This was the birth of the Brown Berets. Their struggle paved the way for educational opportunities, community centers, and programs for our youth.
Issues such as Proposition 187 and 209 have sparked awareness and action in our community, only to lie dormant after a few months.
With the May 1, 2006 uprise and roar of representation, the Brown Berets of Modesto had established itself. In collaboration with Aztlan Rising, The Nation of Islam, Modesto Anarcho and Wingnuts Liberation Project, to name a few, we plan to promote community organization and awareness. With solidarity amongst The Brown Berets of Watsonville, Salt Lake City, Dallas and Los Angeles we promote change throughout Aztlan, plan to grow and make a progressive change for the safety of our children, schools, and barrios.
"Mexica Tiahui". Leonardo Bondani directed this powerful video, shot In the Bay Area California at Mind Seed studios, edited and post-produced in Los Angeles Ca by himself, as he has done in all his music videos in the past, (ControlMachete, Molotov, MalditaVecindad,Jaguares, etc..).
On August 13, 3114 BC some say that our Mayan elders started the long count calendar. This may or may not be true and by no means are we saying that this is fact.
In an effort to stay independent we ask all new and old fans to help post this video “codex” on every web site, myspace page, facebook, etc.

Youth field trip to Las Vegas for National Hip Hop Political Convention August 2008
(July 29, 2008,Los Angeles, CA)The Building Communities and Families-Political Action Committee (BCF-PAC) is organizing a field trip for high school and college youth from Kentucky and California (the Bay, L.A. areas) to go to the 2008 National Hip Hop Political Convention held in Las Vegas August 1-3, 2008. Some (not all) of these youth have been classified as ‘at risk’, and are from poor and/or minority communities. The great majority of young adults in America are disenfranchised because they are often unaware and/or uninvolved in the political process. However, this trend has changed due to the historic presidential campaign of Barack Obama. More than ever, youth are becoming engaged in the political process. Our idea is to take advantage of this positive energy and channel it to further inspire young people’s involvement in the political process. We are taking a large contingent of youth to be educated and inspired about politics so that after the convention, they will seek to become active in influencing political decisions that affect them on the local, county, state, federal and international level.
The first benefit for the youth that attend is our political education drive. We will raise their political awareness and help youth gain an understanding of the science of politics. They will be able to see what part politics plays in the scheme of things and they will also be able to understand whether or not a politician is doing his or her job. The youth will learn and be clear that any time a politician is not doing his job, they have the power to remove them; and that it does not matter whether they are white, black, brown, yellow, male or female, democrat or republican, or any other classification when it comes to analyzing their job performance.
It's the start of a new week and I have some time available for photo sessions. Just made this image in hopes of gaining new clients. What do you think?

Today, Chip is the longest held Black Panther Party political prisoner in the United States, now housed at Centinela State Prison, near the California-Mexico border. His upcoming parole hearing is one of the most anticipated dates for many community leaders, students, and supporters around the world, all waiting to see if the California Board of Parole Hearings will employ justice in this hearing, particularly in consideration of the era and climate of Chip's arrest, conviction and sentencing in late 1969.

I guess I have to change my vote. Fox News is telling me that a Latino man won't turn out to vote for a Black man for president. I guess I'm going to have to do as I'm expected and vote for Ms. Lieberman, I mean Clinton.
