Modesto has a great music scene. From the indie origins of the late Grandaddy to the pop hits by Flying Blind, the new sounds of EARL and The Evening News, to ecclectic El Olio Wolof and Valley Jazz Collective to the diverstiy of the Central Valley Indie-Fest, there is something for everyone in Modesto. There are a good selection of places to hear live music and many of these also include food and drink options that always go hand in hand with music. Whether your pleasure is jazz, funk, pop, americana, acoustic, you can find some great options in Modesto. The Modesto Area Music Association is proud to showcase and celebrate all that we have to offer. So have fun, find a band and have some fun.
MAMA also hosts the annual Modesto Area Music Awards at the State Theater. The best and brightest musicians in Modesto are showcased and nominated by members of the local music community including music writers, promoters, club bookers, and radio programmers. The nominated artists are then voted on by the public and sealed results are given are announced at the Awards show.
Are you a musician that wants to be nominated? Let us know and we will check you out. Most of all MAMA is a forum for representing our local music community. If you need help ask, and we will do everything we can to support you.

Oh yea! We are just two weekends away( June 14th ) from the mighty Modesto Blues Festival and United Community Walk. It is time to kick off the flurry of excitement for this outstanding community building event. We are going to light up the stage with one of the best line ups we've had for our 5 year anniversary gala affair. We encourage all of our friends and family to join us in this FREE admission happening and come on down and dance at our Free after party show at Minnie's which is located a block for the festival grounds. Free admission and Free after party blues jam. Oh yea ! We are ready to kick off the summer of fun with this Graffiti Summer celebration.

Hey people; Just saying hey what's up and wanted to see what the deal was with the Raginpit's Event Calendar? I jumped on our front page to see only one show posted...hmmm.
I think maybe something should be cleared up. Imagine for a second if you would; being able to go to one page and finding every contact and address for all the active venues possibly open along the US West Coast.
Now just think how that could really help your band. It's a no brainer it can only happen one way. If you are looking for Raginpit to help support your shows, then you need to help us. Help us by posting events and flyers for your band coming up. Tell other bands you know in the area, to post theirs too.
Remember every time you post an event, you get a link going back to your Myspace creating even more exposure. We want to be at the shows also, but we DO NOT read event invites here on Myspace just too many and we do not watch bulletins for shows. Just being real we are working with a few thousand bands so lets all work together and make our lives a little easier.
