Liverpool is the largest city in Great Britain not to hold an annual mod event. Val Weedon promotions together with the Cavern Club will next may bring the people of Liverpool and their fellow mods a Modrophonic Mayday. The event will be a celebration of 50 years of classic mod anthems by our live bands, also all the music played by our DJs will be taken from a list of the best 100 mod classics voted for by you and your fellow mods on this website, if you would like to spend a few days in a great city and you have a love for great and classic mod anthems, then Modrophonic should be the answer to a great mayday bank holiday weekend for you next year. The aim of the event is clear, two days of non stop mod anthems playing all those classic tracks we all grew up with and to make this Liverpool's first and best annual mod event for many years to come. It's a party and your all welcome, tickets are now available from Ticketmaster they are priced at £30 for the whole two days, a limited number will be held back and put on sale early next year giving people another chance to buy at a later date, also please note the Cavern only holds around 350 people so our tickets should sell out pretty quick for this great event. Being a Mod is a way of life. Fashion and music is central to it all. The Mod Culture started way back in the 1950's, having its heyday in the early to mid 60's. There was a Mod revival in 1979 when the film Quadrophenia, based on the 1973 album by the Who, opened in cinemas all over the UK. On May Day 2009 Mods throughout Britain celebrated the 30th Anniversary which prompted some to seek a regular May Day music celebration. Val Weedon, an original sixties Mod herself, along with some of liverpool's mods and with encouragement from the Cavern Club, present the very first Modrophonic MayDay Weekend in 2010. This will take place on Saturday 1st May and Sunday 2nd May, two days of great live music and DJ's, all celebrating the music of Mod bands such as The Who, Small Faces, The Kinks and Mod revival bands such as The Jam plus DJ's playing a whole range of RnB & Soul classics. It is hoped this will be the first of a regular celebration of mod classics in liverpool and help turn the city into a major player within the Mod music calendar and scene for many years to come (Mods Mayday the legend lives on)so come along and join the party.
