MODSBURY
PARKis an annual Alternative music-based event in the culturally reinvigorated
Asbury Park. MODSBURY
PARK is the brain child of original
"Garage Revival" enthusiast Mick "London" Hale. The event kicked-off
with 2 days of "Mod/Garage/Sixties/Psyche & Retro Sounds" in 2004, at the Saint and Asbury Lanes and returned a year later at The Lanes for one long night.
BACKGROUND/BAND BIO INFO:
MOD
FUN
formed in Northern, NJ while still in High
School with mates Mick "London," Bob Strete & Chris Collins. The band self released their 1st 45 "I Am With You" then went on to release 2 albums on the labels
Midnight and Cryptovision Records, both based out of NYC. MOD FUN toured the USA 3x and Europe once, but were most well know as part of the "original wave" of CAVE STOMP Bands playing at NYC's the Dive on a monthly basis. MOD FUN originally "split" at the close of their European tour in April of 1987. As of last summer (2003) the
band spontaneously reconvened; some 20 years after they originally emerged
(their 1st ever club gig was in Jan '84 at "The Dirt Club;" once Bloomfield,
NJ's hottest original music venue.) Fast forward to Summer 2004:
MOD FUN are back with a few new tracks and also many selections off their 1995 "best of" cd: "Past Forward" which has recently been re-issued (April 2004) on the Get Hip Records, a top
"garage rock" label from Pittsburgh, PA.
The Anderson Council love hooks, good chord progressions, and the occasional FREAKOUT. They're from New Brunswick, New Jersey but Peter sings with an English accent (think Ray Davies or Syd Barrett). People like to make a big deal of this, but we don't think it is. The songs don't sound right with an American inflection. 2001 Saw the release of their debut CD "Coloursound" which is now out of print.
The Fall Parade is available now in 2006 and the band will hit the "MODSBURY PARK" stage once again after a gig with the infamous ZOMBIES at Irving Plaza!!!
