After Laboratório-SP’s endless vacations Jun Santos (Guitar, Vocals), Fabio Barbosa (drums) and Almir Navarro (bass) decided to put a band together to play eventual new numbers that came along in the past few months. “Modulares” come straight out the fuzzy and doggy “Zona Leste de São Paulo” (São Paulo’s answer to London’s East End, let’s say). After the dismiss of bass player Almir Navarro, the band returns with a new line-up including Pedro Carvalho (guitar & vocals) and Xandão (bass & vocals). The main influences of this new powerpop group are bands like The Jam, Mod Revival, etc.. The and all the post-punk/power pop from the late 70s and early 80s, with a twist from the old garage-punks of the 60s. This combination of influences added to the band’s original talents to compose new gems help to create a pulsating buzz saw that doesn’t get any close to the new and pre-established clichés of today’s pop music. The lyrics (in loud and clear Brazilian Portuguese) are about the pressure and questions of people who have the big city as a frame for their lives. Love adventures and misadventures, the swinging nightlife and the loneliness imposed by the modern world are the most common subjects of their songs. Modulares have released their new EP on QuestionMark Recs. It's called "Na Contramão!" and it has five new numbers plus a new version for "A Bomb In Wardour Street" (The Jam)." Also watch out for their return on stage in 2010 that promise to be massive! ****************************************************************************************************** Depois de um “recesso por tempo indeterminado” do grupo paulistano Laboratório-SP, Jun Santos( voz, guitarra), Almir Navarro( contrabaixo) e Fábio Barbosa( bateria) decidiram formar um novo grupo. Modulares é o nome desse projeto, vindo diretamente da Zona Leste de São Paulo. Com a saída do baixista Almir logo no início, o grupo mudou sua formação para um quarteto, e hoje conta com Xandão no contrabaixo e Pedro Carvalho na segunda guitarra. O grupo tem como principais influências as sonoridades vindas de grupos como The Jam e toda a cena Mod Revival Britânico dos 80’s, o R&B e as garage-bands dos 60’s. Tal combinação acaba resultando em canções urgentes e vigorosas, fugindo de velhos clichês e modismos pré-estabelecidos. As letras retratam, de forma direta, as inquietações de quem vive tendo como pano de fundo um grande centro urbano. Aventuras e desventuras amorosas, a vida noturna em constante ebulição e uma certa solidão imposta pelo caos da cidade são os temas mais freqüentes. As apresentações ao vivo, incendiárias e cheias de energia, são marcas registradas da banda. O Modulares também já vem construindo uma certa reputação na cena Mod internacional, já tendo sido citado em diversos blogs da Itália, Portugal, Grã-Bretanha, Japão, Alemanha... Recentemente, o grupo cedeu entrevistas para “O Modernista”, de Portugal e também para o modzine Italiano “Sawdust Caesars” , inclusive tendo sido convidado para participar do Mods Mayday Italia 2009! O grupo possui um Ep chamado “Na Contramão!”, com cinco composições próprias e uma cover do The Jam, lançado em meados de 2008. Em novembro de 2009 acaba de ser lançado um novo Ep, com três composições próprias e uma versão pulsante para "Try and Stop Me", um clássico do grupo The Creation!
