Modus, for the uninitiated, is a four piece alternative rock band hailing from Launceston. Since breaking out of the garage with singer Ahmad Reeve in 2004, the band has established a strong bond with audiences statewide.
Mid October 04 saw the release of Loungroom Sessions, a self produced demo CD recorded in drummer Anthony's lounge room. Originally intended just for friends and personal listening, this modest recording was so well received that public release soon followed, with over 800 copies being distributed. The success of this release lead to interest from Falls Festival organizers, and after viewing the band in action, invited Modus to join the bill for New Year's Eve 2004.
The Falls was an amazing experience for Modus, launching them into a long string of gigs for 2005, including support shows with Gerling, The Dead Abigails, Anti-Skeptic, Love Outside Andromeda, The Cants, After The Fall; plus the Rage at the Ranch Festival on the north west coast, and Funktion NYE 06 @ The Albert Hall in Launceston with Bliss n Eso, Muph n Plutonic and Kid Kenobi + MC Shureshock.
The band is now armed with their latest project DEMONSTRATION, a 6 track studio EP and a DVD packed with over one hour of live footage, candid footage and a film clip, which has just been released statewide. The project was totally self funded, with the entire DVD and all accompanying artwork designed, edited and produced by the band.
With three nominations in the 2006 inaugural Amplified Awards, Modus was presented with the award for “Best Up & Coming Act – Northern Tasmania”, and were first runners up for the major prize - “Tasmania’s Most Promising Act”. The opening track titled Release from the CD that comes as part of the Demonstration package also features on the Amplified compilation CD, and the band was selected once again by the Falls Festival organizers, joining the lineup for New Year’s Eve 2006.

Hello to all, Just thought we'd stop by and say thank you ,to all the awesome bands that have sent in their material which has been aired on the show throughout the years.
We have had an exceptional response through myspace from some of the most talented underground musicians in the world . It is your contribution to our show that show people that there are still actually real musicians out there [and rap is surely not damn music, neither is that techno crap].
Undergroundsounds airs throughout Australia Thursday/Saturdays p.m.
Bands that would like their music aired on any future shows can forward their material to the address below;
Undergroundsounds Program Manager 44 Bambil St, Crestmead,Queensland. Australia.
Hi. Just letting you know I'm back in the studio recording the next two albums. Details on the Max X Blogs. I won't be able to answer many myspace messages for the next few months, so please be patient with me.
Things have been going great! With all your support & the help of some internet radio play the site is up to 10,000 Friends! Yay! Shooting to release the new stuff at the beginning of the 2009. Hope you're well. - Max X
