If a stressed-out Japanese business man forms a pop rock band with his family, how would it sound like? Would it be like Jackson 5, Brady's Bunch or Hanson? No, it sounds just like Mogstarr!
Moglar(vocal and guitar), after living in the U.S.A. for almost 8 years, struggled trying to adopt himself to Japanese society which is too restrict for him. In his busy days at his work, Moglah became burnt out and almost lost himself. One night, God of Rock and Roll came up to him and said "You have forgotten your dream to be a rock star. Being a business man sucks bad. You should form a band with your family and rock out!" Yes, he had been rocking out with his college friends, putting out CD, going on tour and such when he was in Nashville TN. Next Day, He asked Keroyon(bass, trumpet, and his wife) to play bass for him. Keroyon, was born in Thailand and first met Moglah in Nashville, TN, had no experience in a band except for a marching band in her childhood. However, after trained by Moglar, she can now let her base sing and she has even gotten a groove like Paul McCartney in the Beatles' song Rain.
It was not too hard to find a drum player. Mama Mog (drums, violin and his mother) was the one. In her 40th birthday, she started to learn drums, inspired by Tommy Lee of Motley Crue and Steven Adler of Guns & Roses (not Matt Sorum, sorry). And Mama Mog was the one who took Moglah to a Kiss concert when he was 8 years old. She did not even know that this was her responsibility to play drums for him because of that concert consequently.
Well, the band needed a brilliant guitar player. In the perfect timing, there was a girl who lost her job due to the company's bankruptcy. Sister Mog (guitar, backing vocal, and a friend of Moglar's real sister) had formed a girls-band called Oops! in her high school years and covered 80fs hard rock songs. Moglah had chances to see their live shows through a connection and was so impressed by Sister Mog's performance that he would remember till Mogstarr's sunrise. So he called her up and she joined .
This family band is still young in their musical carrier but the average age is quite old, I mean that they are mature. Coincidently, in the same spiritual level, they have a lot to say in their restrained and frustrated environments in Japan. Moglah writes his music and words therapeutically and the Mog women put colors to it as they are painting a picture of stars. Mogstarr is now ready to explode and to pop-rock the world!!
Check out this festival that we're doin next wekend in East Tennessee. It's been a year in the making, but will really do wonders for the music scene here we hope. Later.
