The Mojo Kings are a renowned rockin' three piece band from East of England, the guys play Bluesy rockin' music and they definitely spread that Mojo charm to their listeners. Lucky 13 sleazy tracks, the majority of which where written by the guitar player/ vocalist Paul Scoulding. At the same time the band does not forget 'the roots' and play Jimmy Reed's 1956 track 'Ain't That Loving You Baby'.

A hoarse vocal and trashy rockabilly guitar create the perfect union for the successful sound of this album. The tone, which is consistent throughout the whole of album, which might be a little too overwhelming to take all in one go, but the up-tempo songs really do pull it off. Individually the self penned songs are 100% dance-floor fillers, boasts impressive guitar work.
My immediate favorites are superb instrumental 'The Missing Link' and blasting Rock'n'Roller 'Wildman'.

GOT THE DEVIL IN ME MOJO KINGS Pink ‘n Black Records PBCD 015 Ok, first things first......Mojo kings are; Paul Scoulding - Lead Guitar & vocals, Lee Payne - Upright Bass and Scotty Roberts - Drums.
And so to this album. It starts off nicely with the title track...that’s the way title tracks should be, right up front, get them out of the way. The thing is, this title track has an infectious, driving rythm, it’s hard, tough and not to be messed with. Paul’s vocals are bluesy....gutsy and compliment the music throughout the album. I wasn’t sure what to expect, some traditional rockabilly? Rock n’ Roll? I’m sure the band feel that this is what they’ve created...and they have, however, I think the whole thing has a much harder edge than that as well. A lot of the tracks are self penned from Paul Scoulding, and are really consistently good. There are echoes of early Rolling Stones in there and the whole feel of the music brings back memories of the white rythm n’ blues boom of the late 50’s and early 60’s. My favourite tracks are, “Got the Devil in me”, “I want your stuff”and “The missing link”, but that’s not to detract from the rest of the album. So, if sometimes you feel that you just need to stomp your feet to some good rockin’ tunes....then this should be in your collection.
