   About MOjO
BIOGRAPHY/BYWGRAFFIAD

The five man band from Anglesey, North Wales established themselves in the 80’s as ‘Mojo’, and they were the first to release a roc CD in Welsh ‘Awn ymlaen fel hyn’ in 1990. Since releasing their first and only English CD “Highway to your Heart” the band have proved to be highly popular beyond Wales’ border.

The original members are brothers Bedwyr Morgan and Tudur Morgan (Vocals/Guitars/Bass), drummer Peter Elias Jones, percussionist/vocalist Simon Barton and Huw Smith on the keyboards. Special guests include musicians Dave Rowland (ex-Hillsiders) on the pedal steel guitar, Keith Donald, Ireland’s chief saxophonist and Delwyn Sion on the 12 string guitar. Following the band’s country rock debut at North Wales Country music festival, following the release of “Highway to your Heart” they were acclaimed to be one of two ‘recommended’ releases out of 17 American and British new releases on the ‘Country Music in Britain’ website!

“…an exciting album from Wales… there are many excellent tracks here. ‘Highway to your heart’ is a well crafted collection of heartfelt & poignant songs that push the envelope of the modern country music field.” –Graham Lees ‘Country Music in Britain’

In the past, the band only performed in their mother-tongue, and two tapes were released in Welsh ‘Mae’r neges yn glir’ (The message is clear) in 1986 and ‘Rhydd rhyw ddydd’ (Free one day) in 1988. In 1990 the CD ‘Awn ymlaen fel hyn’ was released, and six years later ‘Tra Mor…’ in 1996. Having played a momentous gig in a support slot for the Beach Boys at The Faenol Estate in 2004, ‘Mojo’ have ignited audiences to enjoy original celtic-rock from the heart of Anglesey!

Band pum offeryn o Fôn a sefydlodd eu hunain yn yr 80au ydi ‘Mojo’, a nhw oedd y cyntaf i ryddhau cryno-ddisg roc Cymraeg ‘Awn ymlaen fel hyn’ yn 1990. Erbyn hyn, mae’r band yn boblogaidd tu hwnt i ffiniau Cymru ers rhyddhau eu Cryno-ddisg Saesneg “Highway to your heart”.

Aelodau gwreiddiol y band ydi’r brodyr Bedwyr a Tudur Morgan (llais/gitâr/bas), y drymiwr Peter Elias Jones, yr offerynnydd taro/canwr Simon Barton, a Huw Smith ar yr allweddellau, gyda chyfraniad arbennig gan y cerddor Dave Rowland (cyn-Hillsiders) ar y gitâr pedal dur, Keith Donald ar y sacsaffon, a Delwyn Sion ar y gitâr 12 llinyn.

Yn eu hymddangosiad cyhoeddus cyntaf ar ôl i recordiau SAIN ryddhau’r gryno-ddisg yng Ngwyl Canu Gwlad Gogledd Cymru, cafodd “Highway to your heart” ei chymeradwyo ar wefan ‘Country Music in Britain’ fel un o’r ddau albwm gorau o 17 albwm newydd i’w rhyddhau yn America a Phrydain! “… albwm cyffrous o Gymru… mae amryw o draciau ardderchog yma… mae’n gasgliad celfydd o ganeuon brathog o’r galon sy’n gwthio ffiniau canu gwlad fodern.” - Graham Lees, ‘Country Music in Britain’.

Yn y gorffennol, bydda’r band ddim ond yn perfformio yn eu mamiaith, a rhyddhawyd 2 dap Cymraeg ‘Mae’r neges yn glir’ yn 1986 a ‘Rhydd rhyw ddydd’ yn 1988. Yn 1990 rhyddhawyd CD ‘Awn ymlaen fel hyn’, a chwe’ mlynedd yn ddiweddarach yn 1996 mi ddaru ‘Tra Mor…’ gael ei rhyddhau. Wedi chwarae gìg hanesyddol wrth gefnogi'r Beach Boys ar Stad y Faenol yn 2004, mae ‘Mojo’ wedi llwyddo i ennyn cynulleidfaoedd i fwynhau roc-celtaidd gwreiddiol o Fôn!
