Jeanette Moll has a wide range of experiences – both professional and personal – which has prepared her to serve as an agent of change in Washington.

Jeanette was born in Rock Island, Ill to Kathleen (Ryan) and Arthur Verdoorn. After graduating from Brunswick (Ohio) High School where she met her future husband Gary, Jeanette attended the University of Notre Dame.

After an internship in Washington, D.C. at the U.S. Department of Treasury, where she earned an Award for Achievement in Government Service, Jeanette returned to Notre Dame. Jeanette married Gary and earned a degree in Government and the family moved back to Washington, D.C. where Jeanette began work in the U.S. General Accounting Office.

In 1989, Jeanette took advantage of a unique opportunity to help establish the Washington, D.C. office of Ducks Unlimited, Inc. While working for Ducks Unlimited, Jeanette dealt with wetlands-related legislation and also helped coordinate President George H.W. Bush’s first major environmental policy speech.

Washington, D.C., however, was no place to raise her growing family – which now included two daughters – Cassie and Kendra, so Jeanette and Gary moved the family back to Ohio. They settled in New Concord, Ohio and Jeanette set out to earn her Juris Doctorate from The Ohio State University.

For three years, Jeanette juggled her duties as a mother, a job as a law clerk for Common Pleas Judge David A. Ellwood, and commuting to Ohio State. In 1996, she graduated from Ohio State and passed the Ohio Bar Examination and joined the Guernsey County Court of Common Pleas as a Magistrate Judge and Mediator.

Jeanette sat on the bench for ten years, until her announcement that she had decided to run for Congress. As a magistrate, Jeanette saw the pain and sadness of broken homes, broken marriages, and – worst of all – broken children. After much time spent in prayer, she and her husband Gary realized that they had a moral obligation to do something –anything – to help ease the suffering of these children.

Despite the fact that Jeanette and Gary’s two daughters were already going into high school, they decided to adopt. First, they adopted two brothers and later welcomed the brothers’ little sister. Cassie, Kendra, and son-in-law Tim are now college graduates. Meanwhile, Jeanette and Gary are dedicated to the triumphs and trials of parenting the special needs of Bradley, Aaron, and Aleigha who are 13, 12, and 8.

Since leaving the bench, Jeanette has opened a private law practice in Zanesville, Ohio.
