Sure, I love helping my mom get around, especially when we travel to conferences all around the country, but I' REALLY love getting together with people wherever I go. I enjoy all the attention and giving love and encouragement to anyone having a bad day.
My Mom is an award-winning author named Ronda Del Boccio. She's The Author-Preneur here on MySpace, and I know she'd love to be your friend as much as I would!
My mom rescued me from a shelter, and she trained me to be her guide dog. That makes her very special to me, because I had a rough start in my life. I was an abused puppy. I've been kicked down stairs and beaten with a broom and smacked with a hair brush--but that was a long time ago in my puppyhood.
I don't live in the past. Some humans are just not nice. Heck, there are a few dogs who've been ruined by the same kind of stuff that happened to me.
I like to give people a chance.
Well, now I've watched my mom write lots of stories and articles, and even books. And I've watched her help lots of other people write a book and build a business around it, so one day I told her, "Mom, I want to write MY story!"
She speaks fluent Canine, so I know she understood.
"You have a wonderful story, Molly, and I know people want to hear it because they're always asking me about you. But I'll only help you write your book under one condition."
"One condition? What condition?"
"Molly, you are the best dog I know. You're a great helper to me. You're bright, sensitive, sweet-natured and loving, and you can make ANY human smile, but there's even more to you than that."
"Yeah there is, but I'm not supposed to tell!"
"You are the Keeper of the Secret to Joy."
"But all dogs know the Secret to Joy. What makes me special?"
"You have a special mission, and I know what it is."
"How'd you know, mom?"
"Simple. I watch the way you charm people and I know the depth of your soul. You're not 'just another dog.' You're a puppy with a purpose. Your mission is--"
"Don't say it out loud!!!!!"
"Molly, you and I both know that the human race is on a fast-track to destruction."
"That's for sure." I rolled onto my back so mom would rub my belly. "You're practically the only one who really GETS The Secret to Joy. You humans have had great people like the Dalai Lama, Jesus, and Buddha to show you the way, but you're still a mess."
"Right. I agree with you completely. But the only way I'll help you tell your story and write your very own book is if you reveal the Canine Secret to Joy."
I signed and rested my chin on my paws. "I love people--I really do--but I just don't think you humans are smart enough to change the course of history."
My mom laughed hard. "You're probably right, but all the great teachers of history did their best to teach the rest. Mother Theresa is dead, so we need someone else to carry the message. And maybe--just maybe--they'll listen to a dog." She rubbed the base of my tail. My eyes rolled up in ecstasy. I just can't resist anything she asks of me when she rubs by my fluffy black tail.
I squirmed with delight, licked her hand all over, and said, "All right. You have a point. You humans need a new teacher. One with charm and flair who loves to wear bandanas."
