MOLLY ANDREWS is recognized as one of the finest interpreters of southern Appalachian music and varied genres. Her lineage trails deep into pre-revolutionary southwest Virginia and the 'lost province' of Ashe County, North Carolina; hence a natural affinity for the old songs. She employs her particular combination of intuition and versatility as a traditional a capella and interpretive singer, multi-instrumentalist and songwriter; expressed through the intimate experience of stage performance and recording. Molly has performed extensively on stages great and small across the US and abroad, from venues as diverse as Oxfords' Holywell Music Room to CBGBs in New York, and with artists ranging from Mike Seeger to John Zorn. First working in musical theatre in 1995 at The Arts at St. Anns in Brooklyn, principal roles have followed at major Equity houses across the country. Molly is a recipient of Chicago's Joseph Jefferson Award for her role in 'Fire On the Mountain' at Northlight. She is a member of the historically informed, multicultural crossover quartet Hesperus. 2009 yielded a bumper crop of original guitar pieces, experimental home recordings, and numerous collaborations.
