Books
Crime and Punishment, Jane Eyre AND Villette (best novel ending EVER), Wuthering Heights, The Chosen Place, the Timeless People, The Wine of Astonishment, Funny Boy, David Copperfield, Jude the Obscure (holy crap, what a tour de force)
Heroes
Lucille Ball probably tops my list. I'm not saying that she's the greatest person who ever lived, but I believe she got as close to the top of her sphere as anyone ever has. The other person I'd put on my list, and probably the only other one, would be Oscar Wilde.

Hope the reading's going well. You may be nervous, but heaven knows you got 77x7 times more brilliant literary analysis in that scull than is necessary to fill a few pages and a few hours! Miss ya. :)
No worries then. We need to talk Idol at some point. I'm a super big fan of Blake, have been from the beginning. I hope he wins. But I thought Phil sounded amazingly like Sting, and I'm a HUGE Police fan! We should think about Idol watching this summer (once the strains of the semester are finished).
Bad news. Been trying to get the VCR to record a clean picture for 27 minutes to no avail! I am so sorry! I hate that I offered to record Idol for you and am not going to come through.
