Moment of Clarity is a newly formed acoustic duo consisting of Drew Willison (AKA MC Drewachu, AKA Toasty McFlav-a-lot, AKA Jarrod's real dad) and Joshua Ray (AKA J-Rizzo, AKA the Bard of Bling, AKA That guy you caught throwing it to your mom.)
How to describe us… well… we are somewhere between run-of-the-mill odd and completely bat shit crazy. Musically we tend towards alternative rock, any acoustic rock or pop, Funk, 80's shit that didn't suck or did but in an ironic way, Grunge, Blues, and a little bit of points in-between.
Our original stuff surely falls into the alternative rock category, and some of its worth hearing (mostly the stuff Drew writes). When it comes to covers we have pretty broad stroke (Cuz that's the way you like it.). We will attempt to play anything that anyone shouts out, to varying results. Our catalog of songs to put on a set list takes a few turns here and there from standard stuff like Foo Fighters, Dashboard Confessional, John Mayer, STP, and U2 to less expected tunes from groups like The Cure, Prince, Chris Cornell, and The Bloodhound gang. We've taken a few over played cover songs and mixed them to give them a new flavor like “Smells like Gin and Desperation” a jazzy rendition of Nirvana's terribly over played grunge anthem.
All in all we just get up there and have fun, and hope that everyone else does too. And so far that's the way it's gone.
We aren't working on producing a record, but we do some recording here and there so if we ever find ourselves with 12 songs that are worth burning we may toss something out. Till then don't ask.
We are pleased to be a part of the local music community. Check out our friends list to be introduced to some great music by some great folks. And if you have dates that need booked and you like our quirky styling then message me on here or call 740-649-0883 and we will work it out.
