Momentum started out in 2003 as a black metal soloproject for drummer, Kristján, then under the name of Afsprengi Satans. Soon he teamed up with former vocalist/guitarplayer Hafsteinn. From there they recorded an album that never got released, titled Knifefuck. The band took it's true form when Hörður Ólafsson(bass) and Ingvar Sæmundsson(guitar) joined in. The 5th of February 2004 was the first live appereance and soon there after Erling joined on guitar as Hafsteinn would concentrate on the vocals. This would be the line-up for the years to come. Momentum recorded one album, titled As the leaves fall from the tree of lies. This album was never released. It wasn't until 2006 that The Requiem was released. A 16 minute opus in three parts. A strong mathematical/black/death metal mix. The next two years brought with them a change for the band. The music evolved and so did the members and in early 2008 the band decided to part ways with vocalist, Hafsteinn. Bassplayer Hörður took on the vocals and in July 2008 their 2nd album, Your side of the triangle was released. Currently Momentum are recording their next album, a full length due to be released around September 2009.
