WOW...WE NOW COLLECTED 1400 KNITTED WOOLLEN SQUARES!wO-HOOOO!
Thanks to the contributions of people from all over Greater Manchester (and beyond!)we have now collected all 1400 squares needed for the Manchester Oxfam giant knitted petition. These squares represent the 1400 women around the world who die every day in childbirth or pregnancy because of the lack of healthcare and medicines. We know that world leaders can turn this scandalous situation around by providing aid money that has already been promised. And now, with your squares, Manchester Oxfam volunteers can create a giant knitted petition to remind politicians of their responsibility!
SO NOW WE ARE GOING TO STITCH 1400 squares ALTOGETHER IN A GIANT BLANKET!AND WE WOULD LIKE AS MANY PEOPLE as possible to come and do a bit of stitching with us!
Come and help us hand stitching our blanket together...
Oxfam volunteers and knitters who have supported our campaign, will be sewing the squares together between 11:00am and 4:00pm on Friday 29th, Saturday 30th and Sunday 31st August during the Stitch and Creative Crafts show at Manchester Central/ G-Mex, Manchester, M2 3GX (behind the Midlands Hotel and opposite the Bridgewater Hall).
Please note that the standard ticket for the Stitch and Creative Crafts Show costs about £7.50. We have a limited number of free tickets available specifically for volunteers who are joining us to sew the squares on any of the above days. Tickets will be distributed on a first come first served basis.
So, please make sure you confirm your attendance as soon as possible, by RSVP to Serena Tramonti on 0161 234 2793 or via e-mail stramonti@oxfam.org.uk. Alternatively you can always buy a ticket for the show at the door and pop along to see the Oxfam blanket during your day.
Join the sewing frenzy and bring a friend! Be part of creating the finished blanket, watch the petition come to life, and have fun!

KEEN KNITTERS WHO LIVE IN THE GREATER MANCHESTER AREA AND ARE INFURIATED BY THE FACT THAT FAR TOO MANY WOMEN ALL OVER THE WORLD DIE EVERY DAY BECAUSE CANNOT ACCESS BASIC HEALTHCARE!
