I'm going to dress up like the picture of the lady with the blue shirt and red headwrap for halloween and take my diaper clad baby out and hit the streets to promote MomsRising!
I've been a HUGE MOMSRISING supporter for some time. My issues relate right back to all of the other comments that moms all over the world are echoing louder than ever!!! Thanks again! The Motherhood Manifesto is a MUST HAVE!! Too bad some one took mine. They must have needed it more than I did. I hope it shed some light on their lives!!!
Finally... the issues are being addressed. I am a new mother. im 20 years of age and trying to balance school and a baby at the same time. money is tight. help is hard to get. Sometimes i don't even have food for myself. Did you know that because i am a student, i don't qualify for food stamps? Even when i was pregnant and under weight, i did not qualify because i was a student even though i had a job too. i am one of many that is over looked in todays society. The system is set up to keep you down. If you try to better yourself and creat a future so you no longer need to depend on government assistance, you will not get government assistance. They would rather you work a dead end job and go no where than help you get out of the slump. It's hard enough being a mom, but then having no support from your own country is really sad. I pay my taxes but i don't "qualify" to get the assistance in time of need. There are so many women out there trying to raise there children right and give them the world. Mothers have the HARDEST job. definatly the most rewarding, but the HARDEST. Where is the love?
