MONCADA ROCKS 2008 takes place on SATURDAY 7 JUNE at BRUDENELL SOCIAL CLUB, Hyde Park, LEEDS and is the fourth annual all-dayer benefit gig for Cuba. Moncada Rocks exists for two reasons: to raise money and to raise awareness. Check out the blogs to find out what Moncada Rocks 2005, 2006 and 2007 achieved, to find info on this year's line-up and to find other interesting info and news. Moncada Rocks 2008 is raising money for the "Justice for Colombia" project supporting female political prisoners in Colombia by providing humanitarian aid. The project has supplied clothes, blankets, sanitary products, reading materials and medicine to women in various different Colombian jails(http://www.justiceforcolombia.org/?link=5_7).

MONCADA ROCKS 2008 SATURDAY 7 JUNE 2008, Brudenell Social Club
4th annual all-dayer benefit gig raising money to buy basic necessities (e.g. sanitary towels and blankets) for our sisters in jail in Colombia, unfairly imprisoned simply for being trade union activists.
Bands confirmed so far:
* THE DEMON BARBERS (folk-funk-punk complete with a violin - one of the best bands in the country, without a doubt)
* BOW & ARROW (fantastic stoner metal riffs from Liverpool, premiering in Leeds for the first time)
* THE HYDROPATHS (real rowdy folk punk for drunken fun)
* CONQUEST OF STEEL (real NWOBHM metal with all the blood and props)
* BEARHEAD (heavy, alternative, supergroupery)
* SKULL BRANDED PIRATES (metal with expensive pirate outfits and side-splitting puns)
* TANGAROA ("much over-looked" says Kerrang, technical metal heaviness)
* GUEST SPEAKER (on Colombia, Cuba, Venezuela and Latin America and more besides) - BOB CROW, General Secretary, RMT. The Sun newspaper's current hate figure comes all the way from London to Moncada Rocks....
