“Blues is a natural fact – It’s something a fellow lives. If you don’t live it, you don’t have it. Young people have forgotten to cry the blues” – Mississippi Blues legend Big Bill Broonzy
We at Blues Before Sunrise live the blues. Rising from the ashes of 2008’s “Monday Blues Show”, Blues Before Sunrise is an essential listen for anyone wishing to acquire an appreciation and love for the world of blues music. Every Thursday from 9-11PM, listeners will not only be introduced to the music of the greats such as Muddy Waters, Hound Dog Taylor, Robert Johnson, Howlin’ Wolf and Eric Clapton but they will also gain an understanding of the influence that these unforgettable individuals have left on the music industry. Hosted by the blues three-piece of Lee Borland, Mark Maguire and Stu Greenfield, the show aims to give a fresh perspective on blues in the 21st Century.Much focus is placed on current blues artists who are carrying the mantle for the greats gone by. Frequently featured artists include The Black Keys, Ollie Brown, Danny Bryant, The Homemade Jamz Blues Band and Joe Bonnamassa.
Every week, Blues Before Sunrise contains two diverse features, namely “Five Minutes of Fame” and “Blues Influence”. The former showcases the numerous fantastic blues covers available online, delivering to the listener a wide and varied selection of talented unsigned acts. The latter concentrates on current artists, outside of the blues genre that have clearly been influenced and driven by the blues greats. Past Blues Influence artists include Prince, Aerosmith, Muse, Weezer and Christina Aguilera.
Exclusive Interviews and live sessions are now a common occurrence on Blues Before Sunrise, with the likes of Rab McCullough, Alabama 3, The Answer and Blues Shelter having joined us in studio in the past. Expect this tradition to continue, with more local talent to be exhibited in 2009

Every day we are jumping from one task to another – looking at the watch as a guide. No wonder heart attack is one of the main causes to death. We forget to pause, to look around and to enjoy friendship and family. The world is beautiful – you only have to allow yourself to see it - to experience it. Look at the watch, painted by Jette – given the title “Time is relative”.
