Mongrel is a party in Bristol. We're a hybrid beast bringing jungle, breakcore, d’n’b, reggae, ragga, bashment and other sounds which are good for your ears. Behind the beast are SVENGALI- churning out some darkside d’n’b, heavy new skool jungle sounds, blistering breakcore and the most brutal of dubstep chest rattlers; PORKCHOP- providing some serious bassanddrumandrumandbass pressure and DJ TELE who plays a range of reggae stylings in room two, from roots right thru to dancehall. The opening nights took place at THE CROFT back in February 2006 with a monthly Thursday shindig. In June we expanded our horizons and took Mongrel for a walk round the corner to LAKOTA for a three-room extravaganza. Since then Mongrel has been bringing some of the best breakcore and jungle artist from all over the place with room two bouncing to Bristol's finest reggae and bashment djs. Many of our shows have taken place in BLUE MOUNTAIN CLUB in Stokes Croft. In November '06 we started the offshoot night MONGREL PUP at THE TUBE with all the usual Mongrel family and Bristol's best turning up for this more laid back affair. Whilst Svengali was away exploring South America other elements of the Mongrel beast have come to the forefront with Tele and Porkchop putting on two nights at TIMBUK2- first with a massive dancehall driven event and then a dnb extravaganza. With Sven back in the fold tho Mongrel has returned to its relentless pace with some huge events over the last few months featuring the likes of Enduser, Limewax, Dom&Roland, Current Value, Jamie Vex'd, David Rodigan,DJ Trace, Scorn, Broken Note, Pinch, iTAL tEK, Gein, Loxy and Ink. A massive bash on NYE 2008 signalled our move to THE BLACK SWAN which has been our home ever since. In February we celebrated our 3rd birthday there with a massive dnb and breakcore mashup. We're always keen to meet kindred spirits.... anyone interested in playing at a night, providing visuals, or just coming along, should get in touch right away ..........................................................................LET YOUR DOGS AND YOUR BITCHES OUT THE YARD, LET THEM BREED, MoNgReL............................................................................
