Monica Dullard, recipient of the 2006 Golden Gibbo ‘Highly Commended’ Award for her 7th Melbourne International Comedy Festival show, is one of Victoria’s favourite live comics with her chatty relaxed stand-up style and hare-brained characters. Monica is a delight on stage as she disarms her audiences with kindness, friendly hospitality and hilarious off the cuff comedy.
Monica has toured nationally with several Comedy Festival RoadShows, performing alongside comedians such as Danny Bhoy (UK) & Fiona O’Loughlin. In addition, she has been a regular performer in the Royal Women’s Hospital and rural women’s health shows with special guests as Denise Scott and Judith Lucy. And who can forget the memorable ‘Drought Relief Comedy Show’ with Tom Gleeson, and Damian Callinan in northern Victoria!
Monica has also performed as part of a stellar line-up in several special comedy shows including Melbourne International Comedy Festival’s all-women show ‘Upfront’, AIDS Victoria’s ‘Short & Girly’ at Her Majesty’s Theatre and ‘Girlfest’ at the Hyatt Hotel, Coolum.
Live performance is but one of the strings to Monica’s bow. She has also had various guest segments on TV & radio including Melbourne ABC 774, regional ABC radio, Triple J, Radio National, Nova and 3RRR. She has assisted in workshops with high school kids across Australia as part of the Melbourne Comedy Festival’s ‘Class Clowns’ initiative as well as having supported women into the comedy industry through ‘Jeez Louise’ forums. In another comedy tack, Monica featured in Dave O’Neil’s short film ‘Addicted’.
Audiences are gearing up for Monica’s 9th Melbourne Comedy Festival show, this time teaming up with Hannah Gadsby in ‘Lickety Split’ at Gasworks Theatre. For two shows only they will be funny…very funny.
And then there is ‘Mon’s Comedy Cooker’ - a deluxe mobile candy-striped comic food van, which continues to traverse the country, with comedy sidekick Shirley Billing, to sell-out crowds. Stops have included Daylesford for the lovable ‘Chill-Out’ festival and the ‘Connex Sizzle’ at Melbourne’s Federation Square.
