Sometimes the cast of ingredients change, but the current recipe is: Monica McIntyre (cello/vox), Marcia McIntyre (violin/vox), Raheli (supporting vox), Will Brock (keys), Lucien Dowdell (bass) and Calvin Weston (drums).
Monica McIntyre is an engaging and passionate performer who brings every aspect of her spirit to shows. Wowing audiences with her deep, frame-defying voice and unorthodox cello technique, which often involves the use of: slapping, plucking and strumming. She effortlessly blends the genres of jazz, blues, soul, reggae and middle-eastern music, creating her own musical landscape.
Meticulous storytelling, metaphor and word play, dominate her lyrics causing her songs to be read and heard as succinct novellas. The smoky texture and emotional quality of her voice, as it delivers these lyrics, have left audiences crying, dancing, laughing and testifying. Whether performing solo or with a full-band, Monica McIntyre is sure to introduce you to a unique, musical experience.
Monica McIntyre is a cellist, vocalist, and lyricist who started playing the cello at the age of 7. Monica, originally from Hyattsville, MD, studied classical cello for 11 years. After graduating from the College of Design Arts at Drexel University, she returned to her first love music and released her debut album Blusolaz in October 2003. Monica has performed at numerous events throughout the country, most notably: The Black Women's Art Festival, The Philadelphia Fringe Festival, Soul Sista's Jukejoint and The 215 Festival. In 2004, she was featured in Philadelphia's BInformed Magazine and City Paper. Bars of Gold, is Monica's newest single released in August 2005 from her forth coming album, Abuse Gets Heavy.

I RODE DOWN THE LONELY HI-WAY With the top down, the sounds of the ocean waves mixed with the soul of my 8 track player Michael Jackson crooned “I Wanna Be Where You Are” My Blues bled into the dark sky My eyes were on the road but, I see her at every mile marker, and with every star above I hit the gas as my heart races Where am I going, anywhere she might be Teasing my soul hoping she’s headed to me Whoooo… I took that corner too fast Slow down and live with the memories My 8 track player switches songs and my mind flips and trips The Jackson 5 sings I Wonder Who Lovin.. You I fight the winds from blowing me over into on coming traffic I fight my heart and mind and stay focused as I push buttons on the 8 track The Jackson 5 sing “The Love You Save May Be Your Own” I pass slow traffic and get on the straight and narrow and reminisce Like when we were lovers in the night She was sitting on my love, her hands spread on my chest Her lips and eyes smiled, she felt my love We were cruising after we climbed mountains I’m watched her mountains rise and fall, and drip on me She and I created streams that lead to rivers I hold on to her firmly, as I sing along with Little Michael “Never Can Say Goodbye” Whoooo… I almost ran off the road I’m squeezing the driving wheel with all my might; my hands are numb I look to the passage seat; I’m alone on this lonely hi-fi-hi-way I check my seat belt, look in the rear view mirror, and realize she is gone I turn the 8 track up, and hit repeat Little Michael sings “I wanna Be Where You Are” I hit the gas and head home 09@Alvin Lloyd Alexander Horn the author of the best selling novel BRUSH STROKES alvinhorn.com
