I am “9” and you?
You know, behind your birth date there is a number…
If you add all the numbers of your birth date, you’ll get it!
This special number tells about your general features, interests and dreams.
It is really curious and interesting to compare your number with the one of your parents, partner and friends.
But, for sure, there is something more “beyond that number”…that’s your innermost spirit, that’s you!

I conceived my album thinking about the four elements.

The Island and Up and Down are WATER. They are completely inspired by the sea and its creatures. The Island is dedicated to an enchanting place in Ireland, the Skellig Rocks. Up and Down draws its origin from my love for whales. It has been written during my journey to the Azores Islands, in the heart of the Atlantic Ocean.

Marina’s Tale and Soul Portrait are FIRE. They talk about love at first sight, a strong emotion and a boundless passion. Marina’s Tale is the adventure that my friend experienced in Australia, a marvellous place so faraway from ordinary life. Soul Portrait is a love story, an unmentioned love, representing my best friend’s soul.

The Iron Train, The Shadows among the Trees and I’m Aware are EARTH. They are about important realities and how much it is important to find the meaning of our lives. The Iron Train is the longest train in the world, crossing Mauritania, from the heart of the country to the Atlantic Ocean. It is a goods train, carrying iron ore but people living there, consider it a “hope train”. In fact, they travel through the desert, three times per week, lying on the iron for 16 hours, just for a few coins and a piece of bread. Unfortunately it is true, unfortunately it is real… The Shadows among the Trees is dedicated to all our dreams, to remind us that we have to follow them, always and forever, finding the meaning of our lives. I’m Aware is inspired by a letter that one of my friends wrote after travelling to Laos, one of the countries where people fight every day against unexploded landmines. This song is surely dedicated to all those people who devote their lives to help and save the others.

My Sheltering Sky and Infinita Infinità are AIR. They are inspired by our instinct and from where it comes. My Sheltering Sky is our spiritual guide, because, when we make a choice, we are never alone. Infinita Infinità is our soul and its immensity.

Io sono un “9” e tu?
Sai che la tua data di nascita nasconde un numero?
Lo scoprirai, se sommi tutte le cifre che la compongono!
È un numero “speciale” che racchiude, secondo i principi della numerologia, le tue caratteristiche generali, i tuoi interessi e i tuoi sogni.
Confrontarlo con quello dei tuoi genitori, del tuo partner e dei tuoi amici e scoprirne le eventuali affinità, lo troverai interessante, ma anche divertente.
Certamente, “oltre quel numero”, c’è molto di più …c’è la tua essenza più profonda, ci sei tu!
Ora, certamente, è chiaro perché i componimenti di questo mio album sono nove, ma ritengo sia opportuno aggiungere che ad ispirarli hanno contribuito fortemente i quattro elementi della natura: acqua, fuoco, terra e aria.

The Island e Up and Down sono l’ACQUA. Ispirate dal mare e dalle sue creature, The Island racconta di un luogo meraviglioso in Irlanda, le Skellig Rocks, mentre Up and Down nasce dal mio amore per le balene. Scritta durante il mio viaggio alle Azzorre, nel cuore dell’Atlantico, spero possa accrescere la consapevolezza della gente nei riguardi di un grave problema quale è la caccia di questi “giganti gentili”, che rischiano già di per se stessi, l’estinzione.

Marina’s Tale e Soul Portrait sono il FUOCO. Parlano di amori, passioni travolgenti ed emozioni senza fine. Marina’s Tale è l’avventura che la mia amica Marina ha vissuto in Australia, paese lontano nel mondo e nel tempo. La natura incontaminata, la libertà di addormentarsi su una spiaggia, veleggiare per poi tuffarsi e nuotare con lo squalo balena, sono tutte esperienze che scaturiscono in lei la voglia sempre più prorompente di tornare un giorno, tornare per restare. “perché tu sei sempre là e Lei è parte di te ormai…”, Lei, l’Australia! Soul Portrait è una storia d’amore che ritrae perfettamente l’anima della mia migliore amica. La sua anima sono il suo sorriso e la sua grande voglia di vivere!

The Iron Train, The Shadows among the Trees e I’m Aware sono la TERRA. Raccontano di realtà significative e talvolta sconcertanti e di quanto sia importante capire il significato della nostra vita. The Iron Train è il treno del ferro. Attraversa la Mauritania dal cuore del paese sino all’oceano Atlantico. E’ un treno che trasporta minerale ferroso, ma la gente che vive laggiù lo considera il treno della speranza. Infatti viene utilizzato per raggiungere l’oceano e racimolare poche monete e un tozzo di pane. “attraverso il deserto, tre volte la settimana…a 16 ore dall’oceano, a 16 ore dall’oceano”. Ho letto questa storia su un giornale dedicato all’Africa, scritta da un giornalista che ha attraversato il deserto con loro…poche ore dopo è nata la mia canzone. The Shadows among the Trees è dedicata ai nostri sogni, per ricordarci che dobbiamo seguirli, sempre e comunque e capire quale sia realmente il significato della nostra vita. I’m Aware è ispirata da una lettera che una delle mie amiche ha scritto dopo aver visitato il Laos, uno dei paesi dove si combatte il dramma delle mine anti-uomo. Questa canzone è certamente dedicata a tutti coloro che offrono la propria esistenza per aiutare e salvare gli altri.

My Sheltering Sky e Infinita Infinità sono l’ARIA. Ispirate dal nostro istinto e dalle sue origini, My Sheltering Sky è il nostro spirito guida, perché ogni volta che ci troviamo di fronte ad una scelta, un bivio, non siamo mai soli! Infinita Infinità parla della nostra anima e della sua immensità. La scelta della lingua italiana in quest’ultima canzone è un particolare che vorrei caratterizzasse ogni mio album. Una specie di ritorno alle origini…
