Il nonno Nicola era arrangiatore e direttore d'orchestra,nato nel marzo del 1910 a Catanzaro,dove in breve era diventato uno degli artisti più rappresentativi. Dopo gli studi all'Orfanotrofio "Rossi" ,adesso sede del Conservatorio di Musica, a soli 12 anni diviene primo clarinetto della Banda, gran vanto dell'Istituto. Sono tempi duri. Le tasche perennemente vuote. E l'istruzione artistica troppo dispendiosa. Ma Monizza non si perde d'animo. Da autodidatta impara altri strumenti, studia armonia, composizione e direzione d'orchestra. Qualcuno si accorge del suo talento e gli offre le prime scritture, i primi contratti come autore ed interprete, al pianoforte, delle colonne sonore dei film muti, nei cinema di Catanzaro, Crotone e Reggio. Negli anni '40 vuole mettersi in proprio con un'orchestra tutta sua: 14 strumentisti affiatati, amici nella vita, prima che gregari in partitura. Nel dopoguerra e lungo tutti gli anni '50, ecco dunque i tempi d'oro dell'"Orchestra Monizza", in tour per l'Italia al seguito dei più famosi cantanti del tempo: Achille Togliani, Claudio Villa, Jula de Palma, Gloria Christian, Luciano Tajoli... Da buon padre, trasmise poi la propria arte e questo sconfinato amore per lo strumentismo ai figli Riccardo, Sasà e Pino, che lo affiancarono, giovanissimi, nell'"avventura" orchestrale durata ininterrottamente fino al 1977, apportando il loro contributo di freschezza, di ritmo, di vivacità al gruppo, rispettivamente con la batteria, il sax, il basso.Nel 1964 parteciparono ad un film con Memmo Carotenuto,Aroldo Tieri e Marisa Del Frate. Il Maestro trasmise la sua passione anche al nipote Alessio Monizza,che fin dall'età di 6 anni coltivò con cura insieme alle lettere classiche e l'informatica. Alessio seguiva l'orchestra di famiglia in tutte le occasioni.I suoi giocattoli erano i computers,li montava e li smontava,dai commodore 64 ai primi pc in commercio.Ebbe anche un'importante parentesi da calciatore ma ,diventato maggiorenne, si accorse che la passione per la musica era più radicata e decise di abbandonare la carriera calcistica nonostante le doti tecniche; "Correre dietro ad un pallone e dare calci non è la mia massima aspirazione anche se lo sport è un'attività sana e che ho amato a lungo." Si trasferisce prima a Firenze -dove dal 2004 collabora alle prime produzioni di genere electro house con Neverdogs,il musicista/producer Davide Ruberto e la violinista/dj Julie Marghilano- e successivamente a Bologna.Dopo il gradimento degli addetti ai lavori,ottimi risultati di vendite e la partecipazione ad importanti compilations,nel 2008 entra a far parte dell'agenzia Magic Music e dello staff al Nu Echoes di Riccione ma dal Giugno 2009 ha deciso di diventare un freelance in cerca di soluzioni che possano maggiormente valorizzarlo. Il suo nome d'arte "Almond" deriva da un personale anagramma col suo vero nome,dalla passione per il latte di mandorla e dall'appellativo che gli veniva attribuito in tenera età: "il cinesino". I suoi set possono variare dall'electro house alla progressive house con qualche influenza minimal tech,mai scontati ed in continua evoluzione. "Non apprezzo gli artisti che non siano versatili,soprattutto i djs che propongono una "linea piatta" dall'inizio alla fine e che non prediligono la melodia,ciò denota scarsa cultura musicale,.La musica elettronica non deve far eccezione,deve solo dar spazio a maggiore creatività,non può essere pretesto per limitare la conoscenza della teoria musicale..." "Non sopporto il rock pesante e derivati,quelli che gridano invece di cantare ed il rap...bisogna cantare...appunto :)" "La musica è grande emozione per me,forse potrei compararla solo al sesso...è un viaggio attraverso luoghi e sensazioni che non saprei esprimere con le parole,forse nessuno può farlo." Le sue produzioni sono state apprezzate a livello internazionale da artisti del calibro di SATOSHI TOMIIE, STEVE LAWLER, G PAL, STYLOPHONIC, ALEX NERI, RICKY MONTANARI,RALF,PAOLO MARTINI...
Nel 2010 fonda NUTesla The Informant dedicato al grande genio Nikola Tesla - un avanzato aggregatore di notizie, articoli e video, provenienti dal web italiano ed internazionale, che interagisce con i più importanti social networks ed è costruito su piattaforma wordpress - e nel 2011 "Monimega, Shopping is cool!" un grande portale e-commerce su server tedesco, destinato al mercato europeo della tecnologia, dell'informatica e dell'elettronica in genere.

The grandfather Nicola was arranger and conductor, born in March 1910 in Catanzaro, where in short had become one of the most representative artists. After studying at the orphanage "Rossi", now location of the Conservatory of Music, was only 12 when became First Clarinet of band, great pride of the Institute.Hard times.Perennially empty pockets and the artistic education too expensive.But Monizza didn't lose heart. As self-taught he learnt other instruments, studied harmony, composition and orchestra direction. Someone realizes his talent and offers the first records, the first contracts as author and performer, at the piano, of soundtracks for silent cinema movies in Catanzaro, Crotone and Reggio (Calabria-South Italy).In the 1940s he gets in his own orchestra: 14 instrumentalists, friends in life and score both. In postwar and long all the 1950s, this is therefore the time of Gold of the "Monizza's Orchestra", on tour to Italy in the wake of the most famous singers of the time: Achille Togliani, Claudio Villa, Jula De Palma, Gloria Christian, Luciano Tajoli... As a good father, then he passed his art and the boundless love for instruments to the children Riccardo, Sasà and Pino,very young,who helped him in the orchestral "adventure" held continuously until 1977, making their contribution of freshness, rhythm and vivacity to the group, respectively with the battery, the sax, the bass. In 1964 participated in a movie with Memmo Carotenuto, Aroldo Tieri and Marisa del Frate,famous sixties italian actors. The Master also passed his passion to his nephew Alessio Monizza, who, since he was 6, cultivated with care along with classics and computer. Alessio followed the family Orchestra in all occasions.His toys were computers, assembled and disassembled, from Commodore 64 to first PCs on sale.Had a very important bracket as football player but, become adult, he noticed that the passion for music was more rooted and decided to abandon the football career despite the good technique; "running behind a ball and making kicks is not my desire even if sport is healthy and I loved it long." First he moved to Florence -where in 2004 cooperates for electro-house songs with Neverdogs, the musician/producer Davide Ruberto and violinist/DJ Julie Marghilano- and later to Bologna. After the approval of insiders, excellent results of sales and participation in important compilations, in 2008 becomes part of the Magic Music Agency and Staff @ Nu echoes club Riccione but from June 2009 has decided to become a freelance searching for solutions that can most increase his value. Its Art alias "ALMOND" derives from a personal anagram with his real name, the passion for the milk from almond and the name that was assigned to him in an early age: "The little chinese". His DJ SET may vary from electro house to progressive house with some influence from minimal tech, never banal but evolving. "I don't appreciate artists that are not versatile, especially DJs that propose a "flat line" quality from beginning to end and that don't prefer the melody, this shows little musical culture.Electronic music must not be exception, should only give way to greater creativity, may not be a pretext to limit the knowledge of music theory... "I don't support the heavy rock and derivatives, those who cry instead of singing and RAP... you must sing... That is:)"
"Music is great emotion for me, perhaps I could only compare to sex...it's a journey through places and feelings that I could not express in words, perhaps nobody can do it." His productions were appreciated by international artists like Satoshi Tomiie, Steve Lawler, G Pal, Stylophonic, Alex Neri, Ricky Montanari, Ralf, Paolo Martini etc...
In 2010 he founded NUTesla The Informant dedicated to the great genius of Nikola Tesla - an advanced aggregator of news, articles and videos, from Italian and international web, which interacts with the major social networks and is built on WordPress platform - and in 2011 "Monimega, shopping is cool!" a big e-commerce portal on German server, for the European market of technology, computers and general electronics.
