His competency as a musician is evident via his extreme consistency, both in sight reading and in playing. As a conductor, I appreciate Jon’s attention to detail and style in navigating through difficult musical theatre scores. You can always count on Jon to deliver a good, solid performance!

His versatility to shift between classical, rock, blues, funk and everything in between is what sets Jon Moody apart from other musicians. He is a master at sight-reading, technique and improvisation on both the upright and electric bass. As a musical director, I seek out Jon first when I contract an orchestra.
Being called the “most outstanding and sought after bassist in the West Michigan area” by your peers is not something that one attains easily. Jonathan Moody is fortunate enough to have earned that reputation, and grateful for the continued opportunities to keep it.
With over twenty years of experience, Jon has found himself in over a dozen different states and six different countries, playing a vast array of music to a wide variety of audiences. From symphony halls in Europe to summer stock theatre in New Hampshire, the Telluride Jazz Festival in Colorado to house bands at amusement parks, Jon brings a musical maturity beyond his years, and the humor of those half his age.
Originally trained in classical double-bass, Jon picked up the electric bass at the request of a jazz band director in high school. In college, Jon dabbled in funk, rock, jazz, Dixieland...pretty much anything that kept him playing. Combining genres has given Jon a unique voice on the instrument, the ability to sit in the background and fully support the style he is performing, and yet keep a whimsical attitude present in every note he plays. One thing remains constant however; Jon loves to play music - period.
Jon has shared the stage with such notables as Terence Blanchard, Charles MacPherson, Bucky Pizzarelli and Yoboso' in the jazz idiom and Dick Wagner (Frost, Alice Cooper), Brian Vanderaark (Verve Pipe), Drums & Tuba and Dixie Hustler in the rock world. Jon has also has the pleasure of backing up such notables as Dennis Edwards (the Temptations), Fee Waybill (the Tubes), Kim Zimmer and David Naughton, to name a few.
Currently residing in Kalamazoo, Jon is a Warwick Endorsing Artist and a freelance musician in the West Michigan area, playing for whoever asks first. Jon can also be heard at Unity Church of Kalamazoo every Sunday and supporting regional folk act Patricia Pettinga. His spare time includes finishing his solo album, sitting in on various local jam sessions, working full time as a production art coordinator and most importantly making sure his wife doesn't forget him.
It seems that Christmas time is here once again, and it is time again to bring in the New Year. We wish the merriest of Christmas to you and your loved ones, and we wish you happiness and prosperity in the year ahead. Yola

Hello Jon, Glad to be your new friend, keep in touch. Very D

So I had this WEIRD flashback December 23. I'm on my way home to glorious Climax. The weather is total crap, but that's not the flashback part. The flashback comes in that I really needed a LOT of windshield washer fluid, but ran out and could barely see through streaked salt. Then, I hit play on the CD in the car, only to hear the calming sounds of, "Dead, Dead, Dead." Oh, memories...
Hey, did you see that picture of you? It's funny because it took me a few days to notice that you were in the background, then Jen notice it...hehehe!!! Happy New Years Jon and hope I see you guys soon.
