Monkeyshine was comprised of two friends in their mid-40s, Tim Foley and Cate Doefer, who got together to make music over the years, and on a whim, began writing songs together in the spring of 2004. Their songs are a hodgepodge of styles, jumping from country-tinged folk to angry alternative rock to jazzy pop to who-knows-what, but tied together with wryly humorous character-driven lyrics, strumming guitars & vocal harmonies. The songs touch on topics like marital infidelity, lost ambitions, fading dreams, regrets, boot-licking obsequiousness, chat room romance, borderline pedophiles, public access oddballs, not to mention homemade banana wine & picking up after your dog. Tim & Cate both continue to work their day jobs and raise their respective families on opposite sides of the lower half of the state of Michigan.

hey there! I just listened to "Cold and Blue" - so pretty and spooky, I love it! brrrr. Then I warmed up over your Christmas-y blogs, as my roomie in the next room played a slightly bent version of "Silent Night" on his guitar. Maybe, if I try hard enough, I can will a packet of Swiss Miss to appear somewhere in my kitchen cabinet...
Have a wonderful Christmas!
