Jerry's obsession with guitar began on South Padre Island, where he would play along to the music of Rush and Jimi Hendrix as a teenager. After years working in various bands, his world turned upside down when a fateful accident severely injured his left hand. After two surgeries and many doctors and therapists telling him he would never play guitar again, Jerry studied music theory and composition at the University of Texas Pan American in hopes of becoming a composer.
Ultimately determined to follow his dream of being a noted guitarist, Jerry rehabilitated his hand through years of tedious practice and was able to incorporate his musical education into his style of playing, writing, and teaching others. After playing and recording across the country with various bands, he settled in San Antonio and started writing the music that makes up the Monkeysoop sound. As the primary writer of Monkeysoop's music, Jerry happily exercizes his musical knowledge and know-how daily.
Erica Missey -- rhythm bass
.......... ..
Erica was lured into the world of music by her grandfather and uncle, who played regularly at their family-owned bar when she was very young. She started her own music education on french horn and trumpet when she was 11. Erica continued to play trumpet throughout high school and college, then threw herself into her life-long love of drawing with careers in film animation, illustration, and caricature.
Over the next several years, the urge to play live music became irresistable. Always admiring the skills of bassists from the RedHotChiliPeppers, Rush, Mr. Bungle, and many other bands, she finally purchased a bass guitar and began teaching herself to play. In 2002, she met Jerry Connor and joined with him to form Monkeysoop. In addition to being Monkeysoop's bassist, Erica does double duty as the band's graphic artist and webmaster.
Craig McIntyre -- lead bass
Craig's musical origins began while growing up north of New York City. At an early age, he was exposed to large doses of 60's classic rock of such artists as Janis Joplin, Creedence, Dylan, and many others. It was when he heard his first Rush album that his musical expression became definitively focused toward bass. At 15, he picked up his first 4-string and started working his ear toward learning as many tunes as possible. This led to working with various musical projects throughout and after high school.
Through job changes and more than a few job relocation moves, Craig practiced continually, always pushing to improve. Eventually, a job move landed him in San Antonio, where he found inspiration to join it's active music scene. Craig brings to Monkeysoop another bass voice to compliment the already uniquely creative musical compositions found within in the band.
Oscar Laun -- drums
Oscar has been playing drums and percussion for 30+ years, starting with drum lessons at age 7, and taking influence from bands like the Beatles, XTC, The Police, and many others. He performed in marching and jazz bands through junior high and high school and studied at University of North Texas but dropped out (after passing his applied juries) to play in a band, where he became enamored of recording technology, producing, and arranging.
Since then, Oscar has recorded, produced, co-produced, and performed drums, percussion, guitars, vocals, and various other musical flourishes on all of Monkeysoop’s releases and many other bands’ and individuals’ projects around the country. His studio, G.O. Recording, has been the favorite place to record for many bands in San Antonio and around Texas.

Monkeysoop was moved to lend support to the American Heart Association in response to personal tragedy. Guitarist Jerry Connor lost his brother, Kendall Cain, in July 2003, to an undiagnosed heart condition. The band also lost a good friend and supporter in February 2004, when Daniel Reynolds passed away, also of heart failure. A percentage of the CD sales will go to benefit the American Heart Association - San Antonio Division.
