Sounds Like
People caring about what they do and people enjoying listening to what they do.
Monkeysuit is run by music lovers for music loving people and was born out of pure frustration and disillusionment from a number of ill managed events we’d attended; Thus we vowed to do it ourselves and do it better.
Since we began 3 years ago our following has been steadily growing due to, we believe, people seeing us as promoters who care about what the musicians do, seeking out open minded individuals, consistently booking quality acts and always striving to make each event better than the last.
Our reputation and events have become synonymous with providing people with a chance to spend an evening listening to cutting edge music from a range of emerging local and nationally acclaimed bands.
Some of the previous acts we've booked include:
Slow Club, Eugene McGuinness, The Wave Pictures, James Yuill, Fanfarlo, Smoke Fairies, Planet Earth, The Kabeedies, Post War Years, Violet Violet, The Voluntary Butler Scheme, SixNationState, Wave Machines, Cats and Cats and Cats, This Town Needs Guns and Vessels.
We don't book filler. Even if you haven't heard of the band(s) we promote or perhaps they're not your usual cup of tea we believe when you watch a group we've picked you'll recognise that ethereal 'something' that only a talented act can create.
If you make your own music within a band or you're a musician and are interested in tasting the Monkeysuit experience for yourself please contact us and we will endeavour to reply asap. Feel free to ask any of our previous performers what they think of us, we're confident they'll say good things.
We have DJs Too.
Our residents Plundercats + mark is egg bring you a selection of genre spanning spectaculars to keep your brain fed. Check out the Plundercats here.
If you have attended one of our events feel free to leave a message. We would love to have your feedback.
PRESS:
'Having built up a reputation in their native Maidenhead for showcasing the best local talent, the folkies from Monkeysuit music decamped to Reading and taking the place by storm. Teaming up with the Oakford Social Club they've already gained a reputation for putting on interestingly diverse nights.' - THE FLY MAGAZINE
'If there was an adult version of the old kids show Why Don't You, and it just so happened to focus on things to do on a Sunday evening, I would heartily commend the catchy intro tune to sing out: "Why don't you, just switch off your TV set and head to Monkeysuit Music instead." Yes I know sometimes it's hard to remove oneself from the sofa one is firmly ensconced in, especially after a huge roast and an aching head from the night before. But honestly, this very laidback gig night is just the tonic'. - THE SESSION, BBC INTRODUCING
'This promoting business is a doddle. Hundred and fifteen payers through the door on a wet January evening, nae probs. What is everyone moaning about?
That, at least, must be the attitude of the promoter of Reading’s ‘Monkeysuit’ night, making his debut in Oxford at the Jericho. The room filled slowly and then explosively throughout the evening and must have brought a healthy profit for all concerned'. -OXFORDBANDS.COM
