A spectator commenting on topics. These topics are personal, universal, insignificant, and/or important. The commentary is conveyed through an artistic medium. The artistic medium is not music. Monkey Tumor sees it as a set of structured pulses, harmonies, and miscellanious noises.
The Origin.
Monkey Tumor came to life when a German exchange student was living with Andrew for the years of late 2004 to mid-2005. The exchange student introduced Andrew to a whole new world of composition in early January '05 by installing a program that allows its user to compose whatever noises one desires to hear.
It began as a way to kill time. The noises eventually expanded in importance and became a staple in Andrew's life.
Why "Monkey Tumor"?
I think it was because I drew something involving a tumor, and because I was an idiot, I thought adding the word 'monkey' in front of tumor was the height of comedy. I don't even know why I am keeping this name. I think it is a really dumb name and I want to change it.
Other Shit.
Since the year of 2004, Andrew has been thriving to be a decent drummer. He previously took drum lessons from Jerry Carlson of prominent Northwestern Hardcore/Grundge-metal group "Brutal Fight" (now disbanded). From late-2007 to mid-2008, he played his role as a percussionist in the indie/folk band How to Build a Fire, but Andrew decided to center his focus on education, and other necessities, rather than a band.
He has compiled a small collection of reinterpretations of How To Build a Fire.
Because Monkey Tumor does not believe that money is a byproduct of art, all future collections of Monkey Tumor pieces will be released via online uploads (most likely bittorrent clients). They will be free for whoever wishes to listen. It is encouraged that the listeners do whatever they wish with these pieces. Reinterpret, listen, enjoy, share, etc.
Don't be afraid to ask for samples or soundbites, or anything of the like, with which you may do whatever you desire.
