Monks Coffeeshop is an aspiring music venue. With a prime downtown location, Monks is surrounded by three universities and is frequented by students, music lovers, and members of the community. Music is our passion, and we welcome artists from Abilene and beyond that are making music that Pitchfork Media would write about - whether it's good or bad (we don't always agree with their tastes).

After putting in several years of research papers, bill-paying, and brain-storming, coffee has become a staple in our lives. We have a feeling you’re the same way. That’s why we started our own coffee shop. Monks is a place that welcomes the work and conversations that go better with a hot cup of coffee. It’s a monastery of sorts–at least that’s what we want it to be. It’s a place where you can retreat from the dullest segments of life and step into a creative environment. It’s a place that you can go to renew your wits and your strength when you feel drained. Come on downtown and have a cup.
