Nashville thrash metal at its finest; Monoliath has been part of the local scene since May of 2001. We have been referred to as "local thrash master guitar heroes" and will continue to deliver this "Bay Area Style Thrash Metal" (with a new groove) locally and eventually nationally. Steve and Chris founded the band and began writing material back in 1998. The pair searched through several different drummer/guitar players but were unsuccessful in finding the right musicians for the type of music they were wanting to create. In the meantime, Tommy and Jeff had been jamming together and looking to form a band of their own. Sometime in 2001, Steve met Tommy at work and decided to get together with Jeff for a jam session. The first time they got together it was obvious that they were the other half of Monoliath. After some intense practicing, they completed eight songs and then set out to play the Nashville local scene. From early 2002 through summer of 2005 the band played approximately 30 shows. Some of the venues included The Boro, Gentlemen Jims, Exit Inn, The End, The Old Time Pickin Parlor, The Muse, The Gibson Showcase, Outer Limits, Club Moeka, The Five Spot, The Rutledge, Hoot N Holler Farm and a couple of assorted parties and backyard bbq's. In August of 2005, after a great show at the Exit Inn, member Tommy Robinson left the band to pursue a job opportunity in L.A. Chris stayed on for a couple of more months to see the very first Monoliath CD finished. The full length debut CD titled "Crisis Dementia" has not been officially released; however, several copies are floating around. At that time Jeff and Steve laid low for a while. Several months back they decided to start the metal machine back up. They recruited Jay B. for lead guitar and John Hulsey for Bass. This line up existed for a couple of months until Johnny had to back out of the project. Original bassist Chris "Anvil" Reynolds returned in January of 07 after taking 2006 off. The band is currently working up toward several gigs starting in June, one of which will most certainly be a very overdue CD release party. More details to come. Steve uses Jackson guitars and Marshall Amps. Jay uses ESP guitars and Marshall Amps. Chris uses B.C. Rich and Dean Basses and Crate Amps. Jeff uses Pearl Drums and Zildjian cymbals. Monoliath Uses Yamaha P.A. equipment.
