Mathias was born in 1983 in Wippra that's located in the former GDR. His hometown is Hettstedt near Halle in Saxony-Anhalt. Now he lives in Lehre/Essehof, a small village at the gates of Braunschweig.
Music is one of the first things Mathias lists when someone enquires about his childhood memories. The german "NDW" and music of the 80s were early musical influences, besides playing on his mini piano when he was 3 years old. Later he started to take lessons on a keybased instrument at a musical school called "Musikschule Fröhlich" when he was 10. Mathias changed the musical school one year later to "Musikschule Hettstedt" where he learned to play piano and e-piano.
In 1997 Mathias got his first contact with producing music on a computer. The software he used was a sample based one, named "Dance Machine" (= Dance eJay) and 1998 he started to load up a few songs to the internet (eJay-Charts) under his alias "DJ Matze". The next 2 years (1999-2000) he was part of a community called ".mix-charts" where he met many talented artists. Thereby he took notice of the professional music producing software "FruityLoops". He founded the project "CreDance" with David Riedel and joined "Demented Liquid" as a guest member to coproduce the song "Leaving Earth", but left both projects a little later because of a personal musical crisis and the decay of the "old" .mix-charts-community.
2001 Mathias started the cooperation with "mosa" on www.mp3.de named "Mosa vs. DJ Matze". 2002 he joined the community "myownmusic.de" which improved his style very much by giving him a lot of hints and tips. 2003 Mathias replaced his old alias through a new one: "Monoss" (aka |M|onos|S| / monoss). In the years from 2003 to 2006 several "Monoss" songs reached number 1 on club charts and allover charts or got the title "hit of the day" on www.mp3.de.
2006 the "Monoss"-style moved more and more from euro and melodic trance to uplifting and progressive trance and some internet radio stations started to broadcast songs of Mathias. 2007 together with Norman Pfannschmidt (aka "Lonesome Walker") he founded the project "com:bined" which resulted in a song called "The Question : Why?". Monoss' song "Awaiting Sunrise" got unexpected popularity and 2 remixes by "Blufeld" and "Lonesome Walker" followed. With "Horizon" another Monoss song reached club charts number on www.mp3.de and Blufeld once more provided it with a remix. In '07 Mathias also started DJing for his friends.
2008 Monoss started the collaboration with "Actuate Recordings". He remixed Blufelds "Escape To Freedom" followed by releases of the singles "Invisible Signs" and "Awaiting Sunrise". Another remix he produced for Trance Commandos "When Everything Falls Apart". Besides an older track of him called "Realization" was released on the label "TechnoTranceEssentials" and is available on the sampler "Meet Me At The Loveparade - Techno Trance & Electro Edition 2008".
2009 The "Lost Aura" (Blufeld & Monoss) joint venture assumed shape. The first track soon will be released! With "Solit State" Monoss presents his first single in 2009 and another track called "The 2nd Journey" is allready enqueued. More remixes and also an album are planned for this year - visit www.monoss.de again to keep yourself up-to-date.
"Monoss" - this name stands for Uplifting, Progressive and Tech Trance music.
